I posted this on another BB that I frequent, and I wanted to put this out to you all here on CBID, as well.

During the Christmas holiday season, depression tends to overcome a lot of people for different reasons. Suicide rates are pretty high around this time of year. Pay close attention to the ones you love and care about. Look for signs of depression. Above all, make sure those people know that they are indeed loved and cared for. Take an extra minute out of your life to tell someone you love and care for them. This should be done all year round, but it is especially important during what can be a very depressing time of the year.

Thanks to all of those members here that have become a part of my life, even if it has only been an online acquaintance, or even if we have done nothing but battle each other.

I hope each and every one of you have a very Merry Christmas, or what ever holiday you observe.

Thanks MACS. I took my meds this morning, so I am ok for now. I do have to leave the house this evening to go to another family's house for Christmas Eve dinner. That will be the hardest part of my weekend, as I do not like to leave the sanctity of my own home. I am extremely uncomfortable outside of my home, but because of my wife and daughters(1 and 😎, I ma willing to sacrifice my personal comfort for them.

I have many a run-in (online) with a few folks on this board, but none of them in a clear mind. Thank you to everyone here that makes CBID a nice place to stop by and relax.

I'll say this . . . the avg amount of H/R's (Human Remains) we see here with the air lines during the Holidays . . . It's a weird occurance I've noticed over the last 20 years in the buisiness . . .

I never know the cause, but always notice a large increase in the number of daily H/R's we handle . . .

It's Always More During the Holidays . . .

and since we are on the subject of suicide . . .

You mentioned paying attention to loved ones, well I've got to chime in and say if any loved one that you know is on Anti-Depressants, please pay very close attention to them ... (read between the lines)

I'm not depressed, but I am pretty psychotic.

Want to recommend a pill for me? LOL!

Enjoy the holidays bro. Time with the family is time well spent.

I'm happy as hell to be home for the holidays, but I can't seem to shake the feeling of being somewhat of a stranger at home, things have changed so much...It's wierd..

Thanks, rbmbb. One can never have too many friends. However, this thread is mainly for others out there who may behaving depressed moods or thoughts, and those of you that care for and love them. Never be afraid to let someone know you care.

Will do Tarheel4lyf, i meant no offense. By rights i should be depressed, i lost my twin brother in a car accident 17 years ago on Christmas Day. He was my best friend, and i have never truly gotten over the loss.

But, if it hadn't been for that accident, i never would have met my beautiful wife. She came along with a friend to visit me(i happened to be in the car with my brother) and one thing led to another....

I am truly fortunate to have had this much extra time to live...to love... to smoke!!! I wish others could feel as happy as i do. Best wishes to you all!!!

Lot's of people take anti-depressants . . . I used to take them to help quit smoking. I loved the feeling of them as I was on top of the world. I Loved Everyone . . . But, there is too much evidence that shows it makes some people the complete opposite.

I Know, because my full of life and class clown for life and a joke a minute all his life uncle was found swinging from the basement joists one day . . .

Go Figure . . .

It really is wierd that antidepressants can actually increase suicidal thoughts in some people. Go figure....hard to understand that.

I was taking them for the longest time, about 7 years or so...It's more common in todays society than people think...If it is something that your body needs, then, by all means, take care of yourself, whatever it takes.....I'll be peeking at the computer now and again through the day as I am expecting an email from my father, you are more than welcmoe to dro pme a note if you need anyone to talk to or at! [email protected] If you need a phone number, email me, and I'll give it to yah!

My wife has dealt with depression since her late teens. We all watched very closely after our two were born for post-partum and she is just now coming out of a depression that has lasted since probably September. Thank God for her psychiatrist. He has been a real blessing to her (she found him before she met me) and to me. We switched meds about 6 weeks ago, and she is doing a lot better.

I've noticed with her that she seems to do so much better earlier on, and then she hits a "plateau" before she gets any better. She describes it as coming out of her cave and being more aware of things around her, and then becoming overwhelmed at the mess that has been created while she has been "down and out" and all of the things she needs to sort out in the aftermath. That overwhelming feeling is more of a psychological rather than chemical/physical issue. She (and her doctor) would ascribe the increase in suicide to that period, when people may just feel so overwhelmed that they decide to commit suicide rather than deal with it all.

It's a tough thing on both of us sometimes, but I love her dearly, and knew about her struggles before we married. It's an illness, and not her fault. I actually admire what a tough bird she is to get through it all even though she would like to just give up.

If ANY of you brothers out there ever need to talk, I'm here for ya'.

****

it's when they "stop" taking them that's really rough!

they get dependant on them, some just stop taking them and it hits them hard.....

emotions get to be too much all at once!

My best friend (other than David) has struggled with depression her whole life. In our late teens she attempted suicide and then again in her mid-twenties. That time, she was actually pregnant but didn't know it yet. Luckily she was so thrilled to be pregnant and then have a baby that she was ok for years (baby was ok too). She still struggled but wasn't suicidal---until a couple months ago. She said the depression kept getting worse and worse so she decided to go on Zoloft. It put her in such a tail spin that she said she was so close to suicide that she begged her husband to hospitalize her. He didn't, but luckily she was ok. She went off the meds and has been a lot better since. She has always been manic. The ups and downs are so severe sometimes that I can barely keep up with her. I love her dearly and hope and pray that she is ok and never feels like she has no where to turn to but I know I can never be totally sure that she won't succeed one of these times. I can't imagine my life without her. The meds can be good for some people but for others they can make things so much worse.
