I finally cut a deal with the local package store. I just come in and they head to the back room for my reserved stock of Beck's dark.

Sometimes I'll go with Sierra Nevada pale ale for a change of pace. Not too often though, as it plays hell with my inerds...

Hey Ruggy,

There's a restaurant here in Coronado (where I work) where we usually go to have our work luncheons called 'The Coronado Brewing Company'. They make a beer called 'Point Loma Porter' (named after another city in San Diego) that is absolutely tasty. I really like it, but can't find it anywhere but there.

*shrug*

Hey MACs,

have you tried Yuengling's Porter?

IMHO, it is one of the finest mass produced porters in the US.

Ok, at the risk of being labeled an idiot...oh, never mind...

What's the story with the Yuengling Chesterfield? What is a Chesterfield beer like? I saw it in the sampler while picking up a Yuengling B&T.

I don't believe Yuenglings is sold out here in Cali. If it is, it is probably only in 'Beverages and More'.

I don't have a BevMo close to me.

One thing that cracked me up about Cali when I first got here was the fact that they sell booze EVERYWHERE. Gas stations - beer. Grocery stores - beer, wine, liquor, drink mixes, you name it. It is very rare to find a store that specializes in alcoholic beverages. They do have the occasional liquor store here and there and of course, Beverages and More.

The Chesterfield Ale is a really light ale.

I don't care for it either, but it is mixed with Porter to make Black & Tan.

Yuenglings is ok for a cheaper beer but man do you suffer the next day especially after the Black and tan.If i'm gonna suffer I'm drinking top shelf only. It's a seniors thing i think.

About 10 years ago, you could only find Yeungling in PA, now that have expanded significantly.......they are even operating a brewery in FL.

If CA doesn't have it. it won't be long.

BTW: Yuengling is the Oldest Brewery in the USA.

I sure do miss Yuengling. They only ship to a few surrounding states.

Hey MAC what you see in Cali is closer to what the rest of the country has. I can but beer/wine at Walgreens, any grocery store, gas stations or liquor stoes and even Walmart.

I just checked BevMo and they don't carry Yuengling.

Tony, growing up in RI you couldn't buy booze anywhere but a liquor store. Period. And the bars/liquor stores could not open before noon on Sundays.

When I went home after boot-camp for a couple weeks of leave I walked into a liquor store at 18 with my military ID and bought a 12 pack. The age limit in 1988 was 21, but the guy said "Old enough to serve, old enough to BE served".

MACS, Doesn't RI call them Packies, or is that more a CT thing?

You are correct, sir. The 'Package store' or Packies for short.
