Go ahead...

Make my day.

I knew this guy many years ago. Used to correspond with him while he was in basic training.

That's right. This is a much younger "Tank"

Circa 1984

I won't even venture a guess as to the weight difference.

Hey Zoinks...they only call it "the Grease Gun"..but its a 45cal sub-machine gun that was used by crewmen on Tanks...

These things were stamped steel and had about 5 parts to em, every part was interchangable with any other grease gun...

We used to take 10 of em apart and throw all the parts into a pile and then re-assemble them as fast as we could...then test fire em...

I think the ones we were issued in 84' came outta sealed creates marked from the 40's, and beleive me they had many many more still unopened at that time...

Baron...that's funny!

Tank,

Those things always reminded me of those chef machine guns on Speed Racer. Wasn't the clinking of the mechanical parts louder than the round going off?

Yup, Tank's right. M-3A1 "grease gun". Does more damage if you throw it at the enemy. Makes a loud click as the trigger is pulled just before it fires.

Cool pic Tank! Not many guys I know have actually fired the damned thing.

During training we were told that once your tank was killed to give the grease gun to the lowest rank in the tank and have them shoot into the air while the others ran for cover...cause shooting into the air was the safest place to aim that thing...

Of course once you were covered you would then lay down cover for that guy using your m1911a1 (45cal pistol)...cause you never wanted to fire your grease gun with friendlies in front of you...lol...
