well other than giving birth to us and stuff.

I'm actually in the area some call baby boomer some call gen x. I'm the one that will put the most money into the system (at least in terms of years) and will likely get little or nothing. I win. I'm the biggest loser (which most of you figured out years ago)

It was NEVER your money!

They don't trust you to pay in the Ponzi scheme so they remove it from your check before you ever see the direct deposit or check stub. They got theirs first!

Then there's the whole 1st gen that didn't pay in but got a chunk...that comes off the top.

Factor in that families moved to the city and got away from the farm so family sizes shrank because...well...let's face it we were having kids just for labor on the farms...this means less people paying in!

Can't forget about all the illegal immigrant giveaways...housing, food, education and healthcare because we can't arrest or just plain shoot the moochers that are robbing the system and that has to come out of some pot.

Then there's all the wars we have to fight all the time and the dough we give nations all over the world that spit in our eye and hate us...hey look there's this lockbox we can borrow from over there!

Yeah...it was NEVER your money.

Maybe have a "forced" account. In other words you pay a portion of your check into a retirement fund. 10 percent or more. 15 percent would be better.

This massive fund can be used to issue loans to other countries, etc...

The accounts are individualized however, the interest from loans, bonds, etc... is distributed evenly to all contributors (this would keep the socialists happy).

The individual savings accounts are then payed back to the individual in an annuitized form based on an acceptable life expectancy (say 85 or so). If you die, 80% of the remaining balance gets given to your next of kin (or however willed). The distributon will be tax free, however it will get treated as income and the "forced" contribution will be put into your retirement account.

Problem solved.

Oh wait. What about the mother who raises her children, is a great wife and never works.

Oh wait. What about divorce? Does the spouse get half?

Oh wait. How is this privatization thing gonna work?

Lets go a little further about this whiney baby boomer.

This man only paid an AVERAGE of 5.04% of his wages (assuming he started working in 1963). Wages were also 30% lower comparatively.

I have so far paid an AVERAGE of 6.09% of my wages (my work history began in 1984). Wages were much more comparable in 1984 and beyond.

Um...you can either save some money for a rainy day or retire on OR go into debt and live in a van down by the river.

Once the scam is taken away people are going to really hate the politicians that have been scamming them. Maybe we'll go back to the stocks or tar and feathering.[-o<

It's ripe for the picking...

Oh and remaining 20% of individual balances that was kept (upon death) would be distributed as follows:

5% retained for operating costs whether ran by the govt (most likely) or private, and the remaining 15% to be used as a gap measure to assist those who's checks fall below the poverty line (the other socialist part of the "plan").

How did you make that leap? It is more likely that most would be happy to see social security eliminated and all money paid in refunded at 0% interest. (The government keeps the interest because it was used on social security disability payments already)

From Generation X onward, most have already been conditioned to believe that social security would be eliminated before they retire and if they get anything back for their SS taxes, they should be happy. The expectations have been deliberately set very low. The Baby Boomers expect social security to be a god-given right.

The funny thing is that people that believe social security will always be there also believe they will get back what they paid in over time. It was never set up to do that.

Funny a couple of years ago I would go into a Potts type reply. All I will say now is I'm old enough to care about getting my SS and Medicare when I turn old enough. I'm 56 so i am over the "55" which seems to be the age where no politician including the tea party will screw with SS or Medicare. As I guess every politition is smart enough to look a the zero chance for reelection if they F'd with it... My kid who is 26 knows to plan not to get benefits as stated today.. Gee, sorry we (The boomers) where foolish enough to think that the government would honor their obligations?

I firmly believe boomers are entitled to their "entitlements" so to say.... Quite frankly my and my wife's SS benefit is a fairly decent chunck of change and for better or worse it is figured into our retirement planning. (what's left of it after the last few years anyway)

Does this mean I have to turn in my Republican party card??

Once people are in a ponzi scheme and close to getting paid, they become the best recruiters for new entrants into the ponzi. We need to make sure we get paid and the next group can get screwed, who cares.

This is a great example of why American voters are so easy to coerce. People vote with their wallets and how much they can get out of the US Treasury regardless of whether it is from other current taxpayers or future taxpayers.
