Rev.18

[2] And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

[3] For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Term limits and a 50% pay cut + no pensions nor benefits for them AND their staffs would be a good start.
Make politics a p/t career and a privilege.

Oh, and dock 'em 6 month's pay if they don't balance the budget in a timely fashion every year.
Plus, they serve time for inside trading or for breaking any law that we, the unwashed, have to obey.

And there's plenty more where that came from, my Courvoisier- swilling ladies' man.

You forget politicians don't feel accountable to ANYONE. They would never allow that 3rd party performance review.
And despite complaining, people keep voting them back in as long as they bring home the pork. The silver lining in the dark, ominous clouds looming ahead is that the pork is on life support. Perhaps that will spark a race to the polls for "change"- a bit late, but a change nonetheless.

You know what folks used to say when Nixon ran for reelection despite his problems with his VP, Agnew? "You shouldn't change Dicks in the middle of a screw". Maybe that's how independents will see Obama. At least he's a known entity of uselessness. I'm afraid they'll see Gingrich only as a fat, old, white career politician and Romney as a wimpy waffler.

See, I see those 3 all cut from the same mold.

Newt Romney would've done the EXACT same thing as Obama in regards to GM/Chrysler and TARP.

The same.

Then there's the mentioned pork...the "goodies" that get paid in Nevada with money from around the nation...oh, wait...you guys didn't KNOW that? Multiply that by every Keystone Cop that's been elected and can have a K-Street lobbyist craft their legislation for them and VIOLA!...you have the mess we're in right now!

Sen. Brown: Well, I know JG that we just have to fund the military and I'm for it and all but I'll show them by adding to the bill a little rider. Lemme see, "Balloons for cancer kids in every hospital"...NOBODY would kill the military spending, but a real fool would turn it down with this rider. Imagine the election cycle speeches I could write for my opponents!

Sen. Green: Hehehehe, yeah making sure we protect the American people from the threat of Al-Qaeda is what we're here for, that and this double Manhattan I'm drinking right now...what's that make 3 or 4?

Sen Brown: Whoa, slow down there cowboy we have that joint session meeting on ketchup research funding followed by Primates and wind farms pilot project to get to!

Sen Green: Yeah, I have to stay clear headed. They might ask me to speak or something. Say, that blonde on your staff is smokin' hot...you tappin' that?

Sen Brown: A gentleman never tells, besides it doesn't have a wide stance!
