Dozens of people have been killed in a wave of apparently co-ordinated bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

A fresh attack killed at least five people on Thursday evening, bringing the total number of blasts to 16 and the death toll to 68.

The bombings are the worst in months and come after US troops completed their withdrawal.

There are fears of rising sectarian tensions as the unity government faces internal divisions.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks, however analysts say the level of co-ordination suggests a planning capability only available to al-Qaeda in Iraq, which is a mainly Sunni insurgent group.

The US said it strongly condemned the attacks..

If we had just stayed there just another 10 decades or so, this wouldn't have happened! It's only a few hundred billion dollars a year and worth it just to prove we are 'winning' and the invasion was just.

Um, the people in Iraq told us to leave, they don't want us there and never did. If you think Obama made a mistake for keeping his campaign promise, something he earned a lot of votes for, then you must think going there in the first place was a disaster.

The Iraqi's wanted us out????? Only those who wanted control wanted us out. A good percentage of the regular citizens were thrilled to see us and welcomed the U.S. But, I suppose you had to be there to see the joy in having us there.. Or, you could just watch CNN and believe their version of the truth....... and, I'm sure I'll be proven wrong by Fuzz cause he knows everything.....

What is a 'good percentage' and where did you get this information that lead to your conclusion? Every opinion poll I've seen on the matter shows the exact opposite with the exception of the Kurds in the north. We're responsible for hundreds of thousands deaths in Iraq so it's not a surprise they wouldn't want us there. This 'joy' you speak of sounds like the propaganda used to sell the war: They'll great us with flowers, etc.

I guess you haven't spoken to a soldier about this.

With that said, I think we did the right thing by pulling out. I just strongly dissagree with the method: i.e. announcing the time frame to allow this type of event to be planned.

A soldier's perspective, even 100 soldier's perspectives are not indicitive of the Iraqi's civilian's opinions of the US invasion or continuing presense, as I'm sure you know. Personally I don't know anyone who voted for Chris Christie, but he's still our governor.

Prove me wrong. Maybe there is a poll of the Iraqi people I haven't seen, but everyone I have shows that the majority want us gone.

And moving over 100,000 troops requires planning and time to impliment. It's not like we could have snuck out in the middle of the night and said 'surprise'!

Of course. It's like saying you know what everyone in Florida thinks because you live there. (you live in fl right?)

You have an argument for perspective being a scientific calculation?
