COS will be showing the documentary "Iranium" a timely and powerful documentary presenting the danger posed
to the free world by a nuclear Iran. It exposes the radical Islamic ideology guiding Iran's leaders, and the
devastation it causes.

Obama is trying to steal the young anti-war crowd back from Ron Paul. It might work, at least until after he is re-elected and gives the order to start bombing Iran.

Why ascribe negative intent when a person commits a "rightful" act? I can appreciate that you do not care for Obama, but I know you think this id good for both those troops and this country.

The "savings" will be spent elsewhere. Also, this "rightful act" doesn't really change our overall foreign policy. Obama and the establishment Ds and Rs are still putting sanctions on Iran (and I do believe there will be bombs), still waging drone warfare inside the borders of Pakistan (killing civilians and turning their surviving family members into vengeful terrorists), stationing troops in Australia (way to piss off the Chinese) and on and on and on....

More "change" without really changing anything.

I'm calling Bravo Sierra. Obama savings, seriously? Is he going to get rid of the Czars or just replace one thing with another.

Warning Rant On!

How many more US service men and women is Obama going to get killed or maimed in Afghanistan before we get the hell out? WTF is he waiting for? Iran will get a nuke one way or another.

It is amazing all the fuggers that accused Bush of getting us into the middle east on flawed info or lies are now all gung-ho to get into another war with Iran. Nothing short of annihilating the entire country is going to stop them. Taking out their nuclear facilities will require that 'grass to be mowed' every couple of years. meanwhile, the Iranian people, who are pretty fond of the US, will come to hate us.

Time to learn how mind our own business and get our own house in order. If would do that, some savage living in a mud hut on the other side of would would not be plotting how to kill us all.

I love AND agree just about everything you said, Gene. Just take possible exceptions to two things.

First, do the Iranian people REALLY love us? I doubt it. I'd say if they love (and miss) anything about us, it's our $$$$$. IMO, they've considered us meddlers in their affairs since we imposed the Shah upon them and they reciprocated by deposing him, kidnapping American citizens, and turning to radical Islam. Aside from small pockets of support from activists, their religion and elected officials have disdain for us & the rest of the West.

Secondly, I find that your avatar of a failed President who lied to us about using Iraqui oil resources to fund the war and who acted more on behalf of the Halliburtons & Saudis vs. the lives of our innocent kids in uniform, takes away from your cogent message. In fact, it's almost as repulsive to me as my avatar(s) because of what it represents. At least my creep probably only robbed a convenience store. Dubya robbed the already hurting taxpayers with wasteful programs (and wars) & by supporting the bail out multinational, big money interests. Funny how he forgot about the US borders too, but maintained a tight watch on Iraq's. Rhetoric aside, to me, Barack Hussein Obama is pretty much a Bush lite.

As for the Avatar, "meh' it's just a picture. That finger is only aimed at those that fostered hate for GWB then turned around to support Obama doing the same crap.

As for Halliburton, Who would you have hired to do what they did? Have you ever moved cargo or set up facilities in a war zone? BTW, Halliburton also built infrastructure in Vietnam. Did ya know lady Bird Johnson owned Halliburton when LBJ was escalating Vietnam war?

Brown and Root

The story of Halliburton's ties to the White House dates back to the 1940s, when a Texas firm called Brown & Root constructed a massive dam project near Austin. The company's founders, Herman and George Brown, won the contract to build Mansfield Dam thanks to the efforts of Johnson, who was then a Texas congressman.

After Johnson took over the Oval Office, Brown & Root won contracts for huge construction projects for the federal government. By the mid-1960s, newspaper columnists and the Republican minority in Congress began to suggest that the company's good luck was tied to its sizable contributions to Johnson's political campaign.

More questions were raised when a consortium of which Brown & Root was a part won a $380 million contract to build airports, bases, hospitals and other facilities for the U.S. Navy in South Vietnam. By 1967, the General Accounting Office had faulted the "Vietnam builders" — as they were known — for massive accounting lapses and allowing thefts of materials.

Brown & Root also became a target for anti-war protesters: they called the firm the embodiment of the "military-industrial complex" and denounced it for building detention cells to hold Viet Cong prisoners in South Vietnam.

Careful with your expatriated "experts", Gene. My dad went to Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg (Md) back in the 1940's. There were tons of Nazi POW's working the fields. Almost to the man, these prisoners claimed that they had family here and that the German people back home loved this country. Something about our wonderful appliances, open spaces, and political freedom. That didn't stop them from viciously attacking soldiers/civilians & mistreating American prisoners though, did it?

As for the Avatar, "meh' it's just a picture. That finger is only aimed at those that fostered hate for GWB then turned around to support Obama doing the same crap.

I always thought that the military did their own KP and laundry on the cheap until Slick stepped in & muddled it up in the 90's. Not sure about the logistics involved when supplying the front lines & building infrastructure but what did our military do prior to & during WWII? How about he Germans? Russians? etc. Seems to me that this "Haliburton" business is a newly created service.
