**** the children! - Jerry Sandusky

ok, maybe I have a different view of this because I've seen it in distant faimily thru marrage... two women kept there daughter literally padlocked in her bedroom with boarded up windows... later moved way out in the mountains and kept a huge chain & padlock on the front gate... claimed to be home schooling and stuff... the girl is pretty much insane now (21 yrs old) and will draw a nice little gubment check for the rest of her life... the women have a powerful attorney and want guardianship so they can have the nice little check... the kid is screwed again.. forever...
this may be an extreme case of cruelty (I left out ALOT) but it's very real... they were untouchable because of their status and attorney... it's just good to see someone looking deeper into an area that was off limits it seemed.....

If the abusive guardians in this case were two, straight heterosexual parents, would the abuse be OK then?

Look, you'll rarely see me lobbying for the alternative lifestyle crowd. But this study is a bunch of hogwash and it's looking for an issue in all the wrong places.

The "no differences" theory that children of gay parents—married or not—do not substantially differ from the children of married, heterosexual parents has now been called into question.

That's what this is about.. someone pushed thru a study saying it was OK for gay-homos to have or adopt kids with bad or insufficent data... what's wrong with taking a second look..?? Do you really think a ten year old kid can look his classmates in the eye and tell them he has two fathers without some embarrament..?? it's not just physical abuse here....

"substantially"

It all depends on what that word means to you.

You're also assuming causation. The actual cause of the problem might be bigots. Legalizing and normalizing gay marriage may improve these factors.

No study is needed to understand that kids can be cruel. We can name a thousand reasons for kids to be picked on relative to their parent(s).

More to the point, my own kids are close friends with the kids of lesbian couples. The kids are popular and active in school and town activities. A small sample, certainly, but we'd be better off analyzing the effect of abusive parents or broken households, for these circumstance have a much greater impact on the kids.

Discuss and debate the pros and cons of gay marriage all you want. Logical arguments can be made from both sides. But I know too many happy kids who are being raised by gay parents to question this group as a whole.
