Get a high deductible policy and pay for your occassional scripts and Dr visits outta poket. And open a health savings account...

That's how it was forever before the Dems destroyed everything with HMOs...

They're yanking the mandate that funds it.

I wasn't clear. I would like to see the the indivdual commisioners of insurance from each state do like they did with the Medicare Supp policies.

Create a standard with tiered options. Then create an uninsured risk pool that would include any citizen of that state. Make such that there is no waiting period and everyone is able to buy into the pool. Then let the market set the rates.

As far as Uncle Sam is concerned, he can sit this one out.

thanks for your advice. but, I already pay about $250 per month for my prescriptions alone and that is only because they are covered by health insurance. Without insurance, I bet it will be closer to $500-700.

As to a health savings account, I have something much better: a medical reimbursement plan. My corporation pays my out of pockets at 100%. My health premium insurance too. Thus, 100% of my medical care expenses are tax free.

This was always so easy.....Medicare for everyone - cradle to grave.

The Obama Cone of Protection got in the way of that happening.

The money quote from the section on the mandate: Our precedent demonstrates that Congress had the power to impose the exaction in Section 5000A under the taxing power, and that Section 5000A need not be read to do more than impose a tax. This is sufficient to sustain it.

the rest of it was upheld.

my guess is that the individual mandate will be struck down. Have no clue if they will just strike that one portion, or strike the whole thing.

That's pretty much the way I see it going down. I'd not put any money on them stricking down the whole thing. This thing is and will most likely be the 3rd rail for many years to come. Certainly there aren't any easy answers to the heathcare problem in this country (or anywhere else for that matter). JMHO 🍺

Looks like I got it wrong even after the fact. Looks like the SCOTUS upheld the whole thing. Except that medicare funds can't be taken away from States that don't participate. I guess more will come out later in the day. But from what I read it was pretty much upheld. Could be worse, it could be raining. 🤦
