unneccessary rant...

When the guberment FORCES you to purchase something and threaten you with a HUGE tax if you don't buy it... there will be no stopping them from abusing that power. Freakin Romney did the SAME thing is Mass.

If it is such a great plan, then every person in the guberment should be on the same healthcare plan as every other American.

SO GET OFF MY BACK!!! [ram27bat]

OwedumbaCare gave anyone what they were looking for. Only the fools, idiots and beggars are rejoicing the Supreme Court's decision in this.

Elections have consequences!! Tell a friend.

Despite the court ruling, there is still a chance that Republicans in Congress can repeal much of the law next year even if they don't have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Because Chief Justice John Roberts ruled that the mandate to purchase health insurance—one of the key provisions of the law—was a tax, Republicans can use a procedure called "budget reconciliation" to pass a repeal bill that requires only a simple majority to pass. But this scenario relies on the Republicans' ability to win the White House, keep the majority in the House and gain enough seats in the Senate.

for better or worse, this bill is here to stay. Despite the republican/tea party banter, repeal will not happen. Starting next year, there will be a never-ending stream of modifications to the law --- modify, remove and add to. There is not enough political will to repeal and take away the aspects of the law that the majority of people like (even if it does not affect them):
-- no pre-existing condition exclusions
-- stay on parents policy until age 26
-- no lifetime max payout
Unfortunately, these benefits have and will continue to drive up the cost of insurance, particularly for those who are on individual/family policies rather than group policies.

You have to put enough salt and pepper on a shīt sandwich for the people.

Making costs rise IS THE POINT.

this is how they get to single payer. No private insurance = no choice in outcome.

The Republicans want something for nothing here.

Part of Romney's statement:

"What are some of the things that we'll keep in place and must be in place in a reform, a real reform of our health care system? One, we have to make sure that people who want to keep their current insurance will be able to do so. Having 20 million people --
up to that number of people lose the insurance they want is simply unacceptable.

No. 2, got to make sure that those people who have preexisting conditions know that they will be able to be insured and they will not lose their insurance.

We also have to assure that we do our very best to help each state in their effort to assure that every American has access to
affordable health care."

How are we going to do all that and cut taxes?

actually, the administration had very little to do with the current economic mess we are in. more to do with Americans as a whole spending more than they make for 20+ years, savings rates at very low and sometimes neg. rates, buying things simply because a bank said they could, walking away from promises to pay when things did not turn out as planned, .....

Government policies play a roll, but we the people are responsible for the economic choices we make.

heh, that certainly had something to do with it, but it wasn't the cause, that was a symptom of our policies. Our policies have everything to do with how the economy reacts and works, everything.

The problem is it is not a science and what should be a logical conversation and/or argument is wrapped up only in ideological bull$hit and fingerpointing, not what's best for the actual people, which would of course be some kind of mix of what just f*cking works. Instead we're fighting over no government/more government which keeps everyone from seeing we're being screwed.
