Here you're making an assumption. You can only speak from your view point (and honestly, I can only know for sure what's going on in my brilliant and sexy head), yet you're going to say that the majority of individuals trying to block same sex marriage are simply tired of the perpetually advancing agenda. You don't know what's in their head (and neither do I), you only know what they are willing to admit to publicly.
A lot of hate groups (of any type) will have a very similar public face. So while from your perspective (as someone who I actually do believe doesn't really have a problem with gays) it seems possible that they may just want to get along, there isn't any differentiation in their statements, so someone who has a more vested interest (such as Sammy) may not be willing to risk it.

I believe that when push comes to shove, most people wouldn't care if someone is gay. But to expect them to therefore accept a "new" definition of marriage is sometimes asking a lot for a group of people who otherwise wouldn't care to even think about it too long.
Face it: for as long as anyone in this country has lived or can remember, marriage has always meant a legal union between one man and one woman.
Maybe it wasn't defined like this by Webster. And maybe congress never made sure to include it between the pages of one of our laws.
But that is absolutely what it meant.
Now you've got a movement. Gay people are standing proud. They're speaking up. Coming out. No apologies. They have their own magazines and television shows and movies. They're being recognized by liberals and by conservative America. People that have gone their entire lives without thinking about two gay guys watch Will and Grace and think that the Jack Character is hysterical.
The Bird Cage was the funniest movie in years.
But now they're being told to simply accpet any and all change. And when they hesitate they're labeled a bigot. When they explain themselves they're accused of hate.
And so it grows into something it shouldn't be.
And both sides are feeding into it.
