Someone asked for scale, so here ya go. THat's a yardstick leaning on the plant I let go to seed.

I will have some seed to trade if someone wants to try their hand with some heirloom Connie Broadleaf, lemme know.

Hey Nick, thanks for the tips, you can see the cut leaves sitting on the bucket, they are now washed up/rinsed and hanging in the living room to slow dry.

Not many perfect leaves (worm holes) as this was Organic and I couldn't keep up with the bt sprays, Will do better next year.

I think quite well, I will just have to thinks about which months would work best fer you, brother. Would look good as part of your Xeriscaping. Now you got that new yard, I need to start breaking you of the white man's curse called mowing. It's a tough one, hehe.

Seriously I will get back with ya, I have a source, could ship to you, etc. I can give you some tips.

Very cool. I have to ask though why the bucket's on their sides? I assume the hoses are for watering because I know you're in the middle of a drought but why so many hoses? won't 1 do the trick? It's really cool seeing those big leaves on the bucket with the knife on top of them. Can't wait til they are cured and you can actually use it!

That is one cloth type soaker hose, wrapped around the plants a few times. I had to prop the hose up so the drip would run to the root of the plant since when I pulled the dirt to them, this caused the hose to drip all the water between the plants. Propping them up on the block and buckets helped

Had to spray them with Bt today, the rains helped them, but also brought out all the little worms.

Very good job!

Keep the flowers for seed on the first plant. On the second and third you need to break off the flower with the three to four leaves that are attached to it below it on the same stalk the the bud and flowers are on. Those suckers rob from the other leaves like crazy and you will lose size, texture and flavor. Dont wash the leaves that you pick. You take away the oils and resins (flavor). We plant during the dry season and apply water only to the root structure.I could go on and on in the curing, fermentation et, all the way to smoking the cigar. Pm me your number. If you sent it to me before I lost it because of a recent password change. You should visit us in Nicaragua in January or February and I will show you over 800 acres of Cuban seed tobaccos that will be going into Perdomo cigars in the future. I hope this little info will help any of you out and congrats in trying.

Best!

Nick

Wow how cool is that. Nick you are an awesome guy. I'm glad I'm such a fan of many different cigars you make this makes it that much cooler! Think I'm gonna light this Champagne Noir or this sun grown SA Grand Cru... not sure yet both look good.

Thanks for the tips NIck,

I didn't realize about the little sucker leaves around the flower, The robbing of energy is now showing. The Burley plants are much larger now, but flower later, this will really help with them.

I thought about the oils and washing them, but they were really bad as a few rains had pounded the dirt up on the undersides, many lower leaves had already been thrown away, ruined. Most will be novelty gifts in "bombs".

I actually plan on the better leaves now left ( worm attack got to 'em while visiting family this weekend, along with washing the Bt off), ...........using them to send to Lou2row, as he can make some really cool ashtrays from them.

If I can do this again next year, I will do things a little differently, you just helped out with another brother on here, lives in South TX, he could actually grow a few through the late fall, might could start now, depending on the winter and his frost/freeze date.

Prayers be that I get well enough physically and financially, I will take you up on the visit to Central America.

Thanks again, my friend, CB is correct, not sucking up, but I will look for your cigars that I prefer in the future, still working on my palate/desires. Prefer sweet, medium/strong, but not spicy, and most maduros are too earthy? for my desires.
