Of course, with the obama success stories with solar and the forced disposal of incandescent bulbs, we may not need oil in the future.
Hell, maybe we'll even pump up our tires and reverse global warming.

The same deep water wells that Obama said were irresponsble and destructive if we did it off our shores. But Brazil has different water and stuff, so it's OK. Then they can sell the oil they get with our money back to us. So it's a win-win. For Brazil. Obama for President of Brazil, 2016. As we will find out later, he was actually born there.

I have no real idea what the current global oil estimates are, no idea how long what we know about (excluding more esoteric oil sources like shale) will last. But ultimately it will run out.

Think about it for a second. Oil is a non-renewable resource, the amount in existence is all we have.

Additionally, the value of this non-renewable resource will continue increasing as the known amount decreases.

Add to this, the absolute dependency every country has on oil...

So, you use your enemy's oil first, paying a relatively low amount per barrel. When that's all gone, you own all the oil.
