you're only reading the half you want to believe. (interesting... I wonder where that could come from).

The article cites a study which essentially shows that belief and DISBELIEF by the general public is strongly influenced by what they are actually feeling at that moment.

General public belief or disbelief in something really has nothing to do with whether it is or will actually happen. Reminds me of all the times I have to hear in the middle of winter "see, there's no such thing as global warming"

The study cited that since 2008 public belief had dropped or "stayed low". In other words, it's been pretty quiet and the number of weather zealots from either side has remained relatively flat.

Until someone kicks out the old man and turns up the thermostat.
THEN they suddenly believe in global warming.

This is how algore recruited all his disciples.
It's why we have legislation and cap and trade and failed federal investments and Obama banning edison's incandescent for the more energy efficient CFL which are all made in China and contain mercury.

The point is that people's perception of global warming (hell, probably of most things) is so retardedly short sighted most of the time that they can't even begin to comprehend an issue.

Seriously, if a group of people is more likely to believe global warming/climate change is real simply because they're in a warm room. Or conversely, if they're in an air conditioned room, disagree.... then they shouldn't be allowed to voice an opinion or vote on the matter.

I don't care about the policies/mandates. Those are amusing at best, an irritant at worst.

The fact that you only look at this from one side is interesting (ie, everything is fine if no one believes in climate change). You're taking a very skewed look at it (ie, "disciples", "zealots") Shouldn't you be just as concerned that the general public is so willing to make a decision IN EITHER DIRECTION without any bearing on facts?

The study doesn't suggest, nor do I state, that "no one believes in climate change".
It said that there was only a slight drop or very little movement between those that believe and those that didn't.
Read it again. I think you're missing the point.

But people are stupid and have short attention spans.
That is why the OBAMAPHONE is such a disgrace.

No... that's not the salient point of the article. The article is looking at 08 to 12 as the baseline, with the spike in 12 as being the change they are tracking. ie, "why are people suddenly believing in climate change". their suggestion is that it's the localized weather phenomenons.

The most interesting part of the article is the study cited at the end. Here's a link to it:
http://claytoncritcher.squarespace.com/storage/Risen_Critcher_GW.pdf

The point I'm trying to make is that people are forming their opinions irregardless of actual data.

A hot summer is the equivalent to an anecdote and says nothing about trends.
Same with localized storms
Same with a cold winter
Sitting in a hot room isn't even an anecdote.
Sitting in a cold room is the same.

Yet these are things driving people's decisions.

A great deal of people may have changed their minds after seeing how many studies were falsified, and alarmists ringing bells that are making them money.

There really are some things that the average person's opinion should not matter on, or impact policy.

I've always believed an individual should be able to pass a basic algebra test prior to being allowed to vote on anything or breed.

Should probably require a basic science test before being allowed to vote on specific topics.
