Romney
Bill Nelson (hope he keeps his lead)
John Mica (always brings home the bacon)
Castor-Dental (over Plakon)
Dowdy (over Krause for County Judge- don't think she has ever been in open court)
Voted against all State Constitutional Amendments
Voted to retain all three Florida Sup Ct Justices
Voted for a $.01 tax for our county schools (I am happy to pay and it is greatly needed).
Only one candidate for County Commission and he was unopposed. I hate him anyway. So, I wrote in: "Anyone who isn't a drunk like Constantine".
Only thing bad: Ballot was way to long- four large pages. It would have taken a good 10-15 minutes to read everything had I not been prepared.

Things that bothered me: Water Board, Public defender and Prosecutor are sectarian.Poll watcher sat there and observed. Wasn't aloud to talk to anyone. Several candidates were too close to the front door, which is wrong.

Voted for a $.01 tax for our county schools, which I am happy to pay and is greatly needed.

Yeah, something could happen, but it would have to be so significant that I don't worry about it.

As to education: I don'think we pay enough for education. It should be among our nation's highest priorities. Sad that some kids don't already have enough books for each kid to have one for the year. Budgets for the arts have been slashed. Got no problem with athletes paying for their own uniforms, and extracurricular activities, but when teachers need kids to bring in markers for the white board or my kid gets a book that has fallen apart and is taped backed together or has ink underlining, that's not right. We have overcrowding at too several schools and classes are sometimes way to big.

Heard an interesting statistic last week: The U.S. spends more $$ on defense that the next 15 countries combined. If this is true, we should be able to contribute more money for our schools.

Sounds like the teachers' union should push for salary cuts so there is more money for school supplies. It is true however that education spending should be directly proportional to military spending and therefore there should be a special Federal tax implemented in Rfenst's county.

LOL! First thing I thought about- more "education spending" for pensions & ridiculous salaries for quasi-competent teachers.
In the meantime, they get our kids to sell cardboard pizzas and other hairbrained fundraisers for textbooks & #2 pencils.](*,)

ya, the lottery pisses me off..... lots of broken promises since it started.... but hey, every other week we have 2 or 3 brand new scratchers we can play.. I know this cause I see tv commerciials every hour talking about them... the money was suppose to go toward educaion but it appears it's making a whole bunch of other people rich... as expected I suppose... 😟

Florida has a lottery.

Funny....it was passed BECAUSE it was supposed to help with education funding.

IF we were really serious...we'd solve the immigration issue.

1. End the "anchor baby" dilemma. We're the only nation that offers that. You're not a citizen from the US and have a kid here...congrats...now take you kid home. they're YOUR problem.

2. Instead of rounding up illegals like some "Planet of the Apes" movie...just shoot them. I'm not kidding. They would stop immediately if it started tomorrow. Other nations do it too.

3. Can't provide a valid drivers license, passport and birth certificate you don't get access to hospitals, jobs or education.

Feel free to add to this list but really if we're at the point where we're crying about not spending enough...we're spending waaaay too much and getting too little return for it. Teaching to a standardized test? That's insanity. The smart or gifted aren't rewarded. The stupid get a pass or get shoved on through. How many professional athletes cannot even READ? Please.

i voted friday. Voted against several tax increases and casinos. fools around here seem to enjoy the dog track enough with my tax dollars.

i agree the ballots are long and unreadable/understandable for most people, especially under pressure. The amendements were fairly simple but it was a few paragraphs of legal jargon.

My daughter and son (to a lesser extent because he is younger) are already being recruited by colleges based on their FCAT scores. Daughter got another letter today from some college offering her free tuition if she maintains her grades. I think kids who do best on FCAT get mor eBright Futures scholarship money from the state. FCAT cuts both ways. If you don't pass math and reading at a certain grade, you get put into intensive classes to try to improve one's abilities. having said that, solely teaching for the test isn't great IMO. Kids hate the frigging FCAT!!!
