Hugo Chavez was a charasmatic leader who was concerned only about perception.
His comments towards GWB were reckless. A world leader can strongly dissagree without resorting to sophomoric banter.

But it's difficult to look a gift-horse in the mouth, as they say.
Joe Kennedy, despite he and his families perpetual hypocrisy, does a lot of good with his oil program.
Sure, he and his wife rake in 6 figure salaries from this "charity". But thousands have benefitted.
He's a leach and a scoundrel. But he knows that dragging the oil hose to the low income duplex is equal to a thousand photo-ops doling out extra gravy at the homeless shelter thanksgiving dinner.

All true but at least he shared some of the oil with the poor of NY. Plus he was a little more magnanimous with the Venezuelan people- himself included. This socialist died a billionaire. As much wealth as the Castro brothers have amassed.

His comments towards GWB were only reckless in that GWB likes to blow stuff up, especially when near oil.

he was a communist, he is dead and the world is better off

Not entirely unchanged.

Joe Kennedy might have to blow some other dictator to get his lube for free.

You're welcome to disagree but you are still wrong. Chavez was a socialist. Venezuela is socialist.

It is bad karma to want people dead because their political views are different than yours.

Unfortunately what masks as training often is just propaganda. Civilians were trained that in the event of a nuclear attack, safety can be found by ducking and covering under a desk.

So far in the United States' encounters with communists, none have come even close to trying to fundamentally change the United States government. It is hard to affect change when you're entire continents away but we were ready for those sneaky communists that were only one boat away from conquering us.

George W Bush and Barack Obama have done a far better job at fundamentally changing the US government than any communists ever did!

Yes, Chavez was a socialist but in critter's defense, many parts of communism, socialism, and fascism are interchangeable.

Socialism is an economic doctrine.
Communism is a form of governmnet.

Technically, Chavez was a democratically elected president of a "Federal Presidential Republic". Based on tail's assertion that communism is a form of government, this would make it impossible for Chavez to be a communist. This is probably why Chavez was immune to critters many vicious attacks over the years.
