As someone interested in science, I'm surprised that you let your religious disbelief prevent you from recognizing this, or at least to consider it.

Maybe "soul" is the wrong word. Because of it's religious implication and heaven/hell and all that.
But there is something beyond intelligence and our special thumbs that makes us different. Superiority alone does not make us more valuable. It is much more.

We have no intrinsic value. As a being we are a slab of meat operating with electrical impulses. Our value is ONLY based on the value society attributes to us, which is something that can be taken away just as quickly (for example, death penalty. Society has determined that the individual no longer has a net positive value).

As for your "feel it" stuff... you do realize that our brains play tricks on us all the time. I doubt you would "feel" anything if you didn't know something happened there. In fact, I'm sure there are plenty of locations people live, eat, screw etc which were sites of slaughters, but were forgotten in history.

I am not going to argue with you about what you feel. There's no winning, and you're not actually using anything other than "I have the feels".... I can tell you that it's just your mind playing tricks on you, but you're not going to believe me. And I'm not going to believe you about whatever the hell you think is left over from dead people, because I don't believe there is anything left laying on the ground after the body has been removed. You do realize how long human history is, right? There would be dead souls (or whatever you want to call it) littering every square inch of the planet by now.
