You created a false scenario in which you assume you are proving the worth of a kid. But I could be a serial killer and still be more likely to avoid hitting the kid, based on a number of simple factors that have nothing to do with inherent worth of the child.

I'm also likely to do a number of things for $1000 cash. But $1000 cash has no inherent value. Its value is based on society's acceptance of the cotton-woven, printed paper being a commonly accepted currency. Hell, even gold and diamonds have a true value much less than that applied by society (but still significantly greater than paper, given their application in electronics and tooling).
