There is an amazing restaurant here in Philly called The City Tavern. It opened back in 1773. The First Continental Congress used to meet here. Anyway back then there was no such thing as a chain restaurant, so gentlemen of means would carry their own personal recipe books so that where ever they were staying they could have their meals cooked to their personal tastes. Well this place has quite a few of these recipe books from people like John Adams, George Washington and Ben Franklin etc. When you sit down they bring you out a plate of dinner rolls that have 4 or 5 different kinds made from these books. They also have beer's made from these book's. George Washington's beer recipe tastes like pine needles, it's awful! But Thomas Jefferson's recipe is amazing! If you ever get to Philly and want to eat at a really nice 4 star place, do NOT miss this place! The Roast Duck and the Venison Medallions with cranberries are out of this world!
