Greatest how? Because this thread largely just looks like "what does you local classic rock station play?"

Is this more like "what's your favorite band?"
Or
"Who has done more to influence a particular musical genre?"
Or
"What is the greatest collection of ridiculously talented musicians ever to collaborate on a recording?"

Guys... Y'all are missing some real gems.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I think that Prince is one of the best musicians that ever was. He plays all the instruments, does all the lyric and music writing and oversees all engineering and production on his stuff. That makes him a band. If that isn't good enough for you, then Prince & The Revolution. In the 80's the guy was Jesus. If he touched it, it was healed and came back from the dead and was fed with the multitudes and then went platinum.

Lots of great bands. None of them are best. Can't be defined because you gotta factor in what the person making the call likes.

Then maybe I should include Tool/A Perfect Circle/Pucifer/Maynard Keenan James.

From club/techno, to country, alternative, and whatever Tool would be classified.

Certainly one of the best minds in music.
