Poll Question: Zombie recycler of choice:

The Zombie Apocalypse. We all know it's going to happen. It's only a question of how soon.

Forget about the age-old questions we've argued about in the past. Celo on of off? Beads or humidifiers? Coolerdor or humidor? CC or Dominican?

So when civilization collapses and the mindless zombies start running amok, what will we use to survive the curse that's soon to be unleashed upon this great land?

Both weapons are battle proven. Both have been manufactured in the millions. Ammo for both is (sort of) plentiful. So do we go with the long range accuracy of the AR-15 or the reliability of the AK-47?

You never know what ammo 'the other guy' has to offer as a parting gift, get one of each. You might want something in .308 as well.

Bingo! Add in 9mm and .45 ACP, and you should have most bases covered. Wait, do the Soviets still use 9x18 Makarov? If they do, I have that one covered too.

Hard to say. Obviously they both have pros and cons.

That being said scavenging is your friend.

Yes

Throw in a surplus Mosin Nagant or M1A1 and you are set

For close up and personal there's a lot to be said for a 12 gauge running 00 buck, but then there's the ammo weight issue.

IMHO when society breaks down, there will be very few real outlaws or resistance folks- too few to make a gnat of a difference. Armchair talk is cheap anyway. The vast majority will merely trade in their invisible chains for uniforms, tracking chips, and a monthly stipend.

Daewoo is piston driven and reliable as hell and as accurate as an AR.

An AR can be built but alot of $

My double tap weapon of choice is a .22cal. long rifle, preferably with a scope. The likes of a common squirrel hunting rifle.

Ammo is cheap, easy to find, and lightweight to carry. We'll need plenty of it. lol!

Why not build an AK and chamber it for 5.56? Then you don't have to worry about the reliability and that round is more readily available... Let's face it, we're not talking about going to the store and buying ammo. When the fecal matter hits the oscillator you will be scavenging from police, military etc which all use 5.56.

Or you can make a silenced tube with some plumbing supplies and an oil filter.

I was shooting ARs last week.

My SKS is WAY more fun and punches bigger holes.

Works fine in an AK 'bullet hose' as well as the SKS. Dirty burning powder, steel cases and mild steel copper plated steel projectiles are cheap and deadly.

Have one of each...they both have their purpose for me.

My favorite toy to shoot though is my Beretta Cx4 Storm.

Yeap, I'll shoot Wolf or Bear out of an AK all day long, but I wouldn't let that crap anywhere near an AR.

I'm better with an ar than an ak, but the ask is a bit more reliable. I'd had to be mowing down zombies and have to clean my rifle... Maybe add a mk19 to that list too, just cause its fun.
