The subsisdy is paid to the insurance company to reduce the premium if you chose that option . That is right in the plan and a fact.

What is a subsidy Jack and who is paying it?

You do know in PLAIN fact the subsidy will be state responsibility in a year. The states in some bad conditions are states that are seeing cost INCREASES. Good for you living in a state where costs will go down!

Punish flyover red voters and further agenda 21!

Is this just for two people?
I mean, I just today started an individual plan (not Obamacare - free market) and am going to pay about 6k annually for a reasonably good co-pay plan. .

I think the subsidy part is unsisstainable but the Gauranteed acceptance and an option to Cobra are good things, Plus SHOP allows small businesses to get group plans that base premium on each individual age rather than having young people pay bloated premiums to subsidize us FOGS.

The small company I worked looked into group insurance a few years ago and the quoted price was at least 4x what I could get on the private market, as I was a lot younger than everyone. The only people that wanted it were people with existing health problems, and the insurance company refused to insure just them.

Of course the exchanges will offer bloated premiums to young people, and now we're required to pick one.

If I could just get registered and logged in, I'd be able to get numbers.

Actually your plan will be based on your age in the exchange.. ^^^

Also the plan you have will probably still be avaiable.

Many alternate plans are out there at very reasonable rates

even if it doesn't quite fit minimum govt require ments you can still take an alternate plan and pay the 95 dollar penalty for the year,,

First off. Why are you going to NBC for anything? [frypan]
Second; I'd follow the advice on going to the general market and looking at your options.

IRONY- When the government program you vehemently and bitterly oppose doesn't provide you with any benefits you can use.

Robert, I never had, nor do I now, have the desire to ever sign up for this. My post was to show an example of what others who actually thought they'd end up with cheap or free insurance are going to find. Not free, and definitely not cheap.

Well in Cali they aren't allowed to ask about the HIV your mom gave me.

But I do think they were expecting me to be setting up an insurance fraud when I called them the day before the insurance kicked in and was very specifically asking whether my insurance would be accepted at urgent care facilities the next day in the event I needed stitches or xrays.

That seems like a stupid assumption.

If people didn't have insurance, but had an emergency, they went to the emergency room.
If people did have insurance, but had an emergency, they went to the emergency room.
Some subset of people who didn't have insurance, but had a problem they needed looking at, went to the emergency room.

Now, if everyone has insurance, seems only the first 2 groups would go to the emergency room.
The third group would schedule with their primary care physician, as normal.

Primary care doctors, and emergency rooms are two different groups. There may not be enough primary care doctors, but there shouldn't be a burden on emergency rooms.

I don't like obamacare, but make better arguments.

mmhhh... and how exactly did the emergency rooms get clogged? Do you have a report showing this, or do you just know it because some talking head told you?

Somewhere in the last week I found a calculator.

My silver plan would run me 11K a year.

That's a few grand more than I pay with my co-funded plan at work.

If I had to pay that additional out of my pocket, with rising food and energy costs, no buying new toys, dinners out, new car etc.

Goes back to my question on another post, why kill the middle class? We generate all your ill-gotten gains, we fund very boon doggle project and if the trains run on time we don't squawk to much.

Why kill the goose that lays all these golden eggs? Are these people that dumb?

You make us all broke and guess what, we'll get pissed off and when we don't buy crap you than can't buy crap.

Healthy and prosperous middle class is a license to steal, they should be promoting anything and everything to keep us vibrant.

Stupid sh1ts.
