Whoopsie.
Dropped that pesky flag.

Let me just pick that up.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Come on TG, stop being such a cry baby.
BTW if you look close my avitar ("the Bus" that I'm still trying to get you on for a GIANTS game) you can see Eli throwing the pass to David Tyree in SB XLII (that's SB 47 for you patriots fans, 18 wins, 1 GIANT loss).

PARIS (AP)

Defender Mamadou Sakho and Karim Benzema scored a goal each as France beat 10-man Ukraine 3-0 on Tuesday and overcame the odds to reach the World Cup.

Although Ukraine played most of the second half with 10 men, France was already leading 2-0 by then after goals from Mamadou Sakho and Karim Benzema.

Trailing 2-0 after the first leg of their playoff, France opened the scoring with Sakho's first international goal and Benzema finished from close range in the 34th.

Ukraine went down to 10 men when fullback Yevhen Khacheridi was red-carded for fouling Franck Ribery in the 47th and France sealed qualification in the 72nd minute when subsitute Oleg Gusev turned a cross into his own net under pressure from Sakho.

There were delirious scenes at the end as France players rushed off the bench and the Stade de France celebrated

The pass was so poorly thrown, the flag was for intentional grounding. They picked it up because the ball was intercepted.

The play is designed to go into the end zone, it's a timing play. Brady throws the ball so short the TE has to come back for it. The TE purposely tries to run into the back of the DB or LB as he flails at the ball - knowing full well he can't catch it.

Brady was mad that the refs didn't fall for the trick and Gronk was late trying to charge into the back of the DB/LB.

It's a typical Bellicheat way of trying to get a call to go your way.

From the Charlotte Observer:

...Back judge Terrence Miles immediately threw a flag for pass interference on Kuechly.

But after referee Clete Blakeman conferred with two other officials, they ruled Brady’s pass was uncatchable and picked up the flag.

Blakeman didn’t explain that to the ESPN audience or the Bank of America Stadium crowd at the time of his announcement that the game was over, but did so later when meeting with pool reporters.

“It was determined at that point in time that when the primary contact occurred on the tight end that the ball, in essence, was coming in underthrown and, in essence, it was immediate at that point intercepted at the front end of the end zone,” Blakeman said.

“So there was a determination that, in essence, uncatchability, that the ball was intercepted at or about the same time the primary contact against the receiver occurred.

My honest opinion:

Terrible throw.
That ball gets intercepted regardless of anything done to Gronk.
Game over.

But it is not uncommon for a play to be ruled a penalty even when the penalty has no obvious effect on the outcome.
In fact, it is very common.
This is clearly interference. And it's clearly prior to the interception.

The Pats should have lost anyhow. But the refs blew this one plain and simple.

What part of the back are you talking about? If they were any more face-to-face then they would have to go to Massachusetts to get married. 🌫

Gronk initiated the contact and it wasn't catchable.

Illegal contact should have been called.

It's over and done.

BTW the way Gronk was trying to get closer to guy covering him, did the Gronk rehab at the Cape's Provincetown????
