He pays for water and grazing rights, **** the Feds ( this is about a back door deal Harry's little boy has been working on.) This is NO different than him renting from a private land owner who makes money from land that otherwise generates nada. And as Jamie pointed out, when they do something about the damage all the Illegals are doing in the deserts and on folks Personal Property....maybe then we can address this some more!! 🌫

Except he doesn't. By his own admission, he decided, after paying for years, that he shouldn't have to pay, and quit paying. I have no problem with this being addressed, and addressing the illegals. One doesn't have to preclude the other. And this is no different from renting from private land, if you quit paying rent, you get evicted. You refuse to leave after being evicted and they call the sheriff to remove you . . . [ram27bat]

He's just another taker sucking off the government teat. If the guy was some homeless person squatting in National Forest Service campground refusing to pay the daily fee, I'm sure the same people outraged that the Govt would be forcibly evicting the rancher would be enthusiastically supporting the other side of the argument.

Isn't this the Tragedy of the commons all over again? Or am I missing something. Would this guy get pissed if another rancher started using the land to graze as well?

Tragedy of the Commons (for those of you who never took economic theory):

"In 1833 William Forster Lloyd published a pamphlet on herders sharing a common parcel of land on which they are each entitled to let their cows graze. In English villages (as with mountain countries in Europe), shepherds had sometimes grazed their sheep in common areas, and sheep ate grass more severely than cows. Overgrazing could result because for each additional sheep, a herder could receive benefits, while the group shared damage to the commons. If all herders made this individually rational economic decision, the common could be depleted or even destroyed, to the detriment of all."

The real question still remains. Do you want the 7th cavalry, no, make that the National Weather Service Sniper Team, to show up to collect an unpaid bill . . .

I heard that this rancher is a fine and patriotic American. He's willing to teach all the Black Americans in the Nevada ghettos and prisons a trade on his ranch so that they won't need U.S. Govt. handouts anymore. He's gonna give them and their families free room and board, if they'll pick his cotton...
