A noob entry

Never had this Cuban cigar but frankly I’ve had very few Cuban cigars. This one has a beautiful brown wrapper w/invisible seems and a very nice triple cap (if not mistaken), tiny crack at the foot, a cosmetic note. Barnyard and cocoa dust fragrance. Deep V cut, not much on a generous cold draw but the mouth tobacco had interesting umami. Kickoff, wow - interesting. Leather, something like cedar, white pepper, green cardamom, sweet / sour umami throughout and a woody smoke presence. I’m just a noob but at the 1” mark I’m declaring this cigar “complex” in the flavor profile. A fruity note now shows in retro. Stacking dimes. End of first third the flavors are now fresh baked bread crust, green cardamom, black pepper, citrus peel and a well balanced profile. I’m glad I decided on the deep V cut, the mouth tobacco tastes lightly of lemon balm. Well into second third the retro begins to tingle slightly bringing burnt nutmeg with molasses faintly in background. Heading into final third w/perfect burn line and copious smoke production. Installed my patented Tele-Nubber w/zero problems. The flavors have mellowed and contracted quite a bit. I’m left w/a delicious mellow nutmeg on non buttered toast balanced with an oaky and light pepper retro. I’m trying very hard to concentrate on the time I have left with this cigar instead of dreading the quickly approaching death of the cherry. Nub rewarding me w/strong hits of orange peel and pepper added to the flavor profile. Handsome, well behaved and hard working flavor complexity that turns on a dime and enchants to the end, this slugger strikes me as slightly heavier nicotine than a simple medium so I’m going w/medium +, knocking on full’s door. I paired w/cold water but I think this will hold up to gin tonic, Martini, strong black coffee or Champagne. I personally would avoid smoky Scotch, Cabernet Sauvignon or wine with strong tannin though tawny Port might work. These pairings are from the mind of a noob and I’m receptive to constructive criticisms. Total smoke time a dreamy 51 minutes.

Been in my humi for almost 15 years. God did it hold up well! Razor burn. Strong. Nicotine. Wasn't my favorite, but would try a few again just because mine may have been a dud...
