LGC Medialle D'Or #4 2015

Just a superb cigar if smoked slowly. Sorry that these were discontinued years ago.

Have not smoked it yet, but Saturday I was gifted a Behike 56 worth like $300-400 in today's market. An old friend showed me his humidors/cigar lounge in his new house and he had at least 30 of them. I am thinking I'd probably trade it for a box of something else rather than smoking it as a one-and-done.

Smoke it. It was a gift.

Even when they first came out they were priced out of my range. I would smoke it. Buckwheat gifted me a 1987 Dunhill Cabinetta. They stopped making them in 1991, I think. I smoked it and even shared it with echo4alpha and xibbumbero.

Best cigar I have ever smoked. Freshly rolled Taboada was #2... I don't know what he rolled me, but it was whatever he was smoking.

Agreed. Smoke it. My MO is always smoke a gifted cigar no matter how good or bad. I have been through almost two boxes of the Behike 52. Can't say they are the best I have had but they were a pleasure for the $16.40 I paid. (long story)

And I also agree that the Taboado that xibbumbero gifted me on our TJ trip was in my top 5 at least. BTW where is that old fire dog?

I think I wrote about this many years back but here goes:

I bought the 1st 10 ct box of Behike 52 something like 10-12 years ago from the Aussie place. I paid $328. At the same time I bought a box of Fonseca for a buddy who wanted a milder, cheaper Cuban. Since these were times that US Customs would intercept contraband boxes they shipped the Fonseca one day and the Behike the next day which was typical.

I was able to track the shipments as far as Customs receiving them in Los Angeles, but they stopped there. After about 35 days I contacted the Aussies and they confirmed they were "lost". They made good on their end, reshipped and I received both boxes about 14 days later.

After smoking 4-5 Behikes over the next 6 months, one day I went to my mail box and there was the original box of Fonseca. The very next day the box of Behike arrived. No notice or letter from Customs, just both boxes were help up for exactly 6 months and then cleared.

I contacted the Aussies and gave them the details and being 6 months old they said just keep them. The Behikes came in a beautiful lacquered black case that was sealed in an unusually very heavy cello and was then wrapped in a strong butcher paper and then wrapped in typical shipping bubble wrap and taped securely. They were then placed in a sealed shipping envelope.

When I opened the Behikes they were soft and moist. It was just like they had been shipped yesterday. Every bit as good as the ones I already had in my humidor.

So 20 Behikes for $328. I still have a few.

DED,

You guys are right that I should smoke it. But, I am going to wait until I have the time and the right environment.

Also, I have had the exact same scenario with aussi place, but the second box showed up like 90 days later. I called them to find out how to send it back and they told me to just keep it and enjoy them. Happened to be the very best box of Monte2 I have ever had.

Also had a terminal place incident where my shipment was in customs for 9-10 days. They did not wait to refund me promptly. New York is a hell hole for CC.

I now only would only buy from vendors who ship through Miami or Chicago as I have never had a problem there.

It was AWESOME! But gotta remember, it was only the 3rd one I’ve ever smoked so don’t necessarily have much of a base to compare. I tried one last year and while good, last nights cigar was definitely much better. Everything was perfect too. Construction, burn, smoke output, no touch-ups. Made me really regret not getting more…like just saying “Frank it, I’ll just get a box or two.”

Hindsight is, of course, always 20/20. 😣
