There is something very visceral about a watch for me. I wear a Lucian Picard for work and a Seiko the rest of the time.

Tag Heuer for work

Casio for casual time

Tiffany for formal wear (It was a gift for my 40th - a very nice gift, from my sister who happens to work there)

Timex Expedition from Wally World or Target or something. I don't wear a watch as jewelry, if fact I don't wear any jewelry. I just want a watch that will keep time and put up to daily abuse of working in the yard, on the car, at work or wherever. I don't take special care of it so it tends to get scratched, nicked, cracked over time. That's why I just buy inexpensive watches.

As for the original post/rant. It's probably a watch that is waterproof/water resistant to X meters right?

I tried to get a battery replaced in a watch before at some jewelry place and they wouldn't do it either. Couldn't guarantee that after they cracked the seal to replace the battery that the watch would still be waterproof/resistant or something like that. I don't remember exactly, it was many years ago.

When the battery goes dead, I just buy a new watch.

Who wears watches anymore?

Old guys and people that like wristwatches, jewelry, oh, wristwatches.

I have a nice Lummox I used to wear for work and a NIB Rolex sitting in a safe deposit box, but I use my cellphone for time checks.

It's really the only acceptable accessory for a man. That is, unless your name is Guido and live in New Joisy.
