And macs... We do pick and choose. Clearly not in the manner that you would like, but an argument could be made that it's not unintentional.

We have a certain number of immigrants, legal, who are brought in in a controlled manner. Add to that a certain number of illegal immigrants, that number is maintained and adjustable depending on the amount of effort we put in to securing the border.

I'm sure someone has estimated the cost of reducing the illegal immigration by one, and someone else has decided that that cost is higher than the cost of having that immigrant in the country - the value of having that immigrant do labor.

You assume that the number is out of control and unwanted. I would suggest that illegal immigration is reduced to the point where it is economically advantageous.

Neither of us have any evidence either is correct however.

I do want to point out the irony of the same groups who have been complaining that being a minority in this country is way better than being a white male are also the same groups suddenly afraid of no longer being the majority.

I'm not 'afraid' of being a minority. But I also don't like the direction our country is headed with respect to immigrants. Back in the day, immigrants assimilated and became 'Americans'. They came here for a better life and respected our culture and our customs.

It doesn't seem to be that way anymore. Immigrants now seem to want US to adjust to THEM.

Are you sure that's accurate? Because I haven't felt as if I've adjusted anything in my life for an immigrant. How do you feel you've adjusted?

I'm sorry. I was wrong. The woman is technically an immigrant. I've had to adjust my life a sh$t ton for her and that damn dog.

You're right. Send all of them back. Lousy immigrants and their lousy dogs.

You mean like speaking Spanish, waving Mexican flags, and supporting all the Mexican national teams? Because if so... we already are becoming more like Mexico. As more and more illegal immigrants cross our border, we become more like Mexico.

Photo inaccuracy aside, we have a right to protect our borders, and we should.

Opinions are like a--holes,everybody has one. Most if not all cons want "THE WALL". Most libs think it's stupid and won't accomplish much, if anything.
Most con opinions regarding protecting our borders, concern protecting it against brown skinned people,however,not much is said about Canadians working illegally in the USA or building a wall on our northern border.
BTW,most of the southwest used to be Mexico B4 the USA picked a fight w/Mexico in order to continue it's policy of manifest destiny.
When you have a 1st world country next to 3rd world country,such as USA/Mexico an influx of illegals is inevitable,
So the cons will continue to bitch about the Messicans being here doing this and doing that but as long as there's stoop labor to be done they'll continue to come and employers will continue to hire them. X 🤔

And my wife is brown skinned... and so are you and I've drunk beer, smoked cigars and partied with you, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

You know I ain't racist. We have an illegal immigration problem. We need to address it. North, south, east, west, I don't care which direction they come from or what damn color they are.

Immigrants have typically settled in their own areas and continued their own ways. Over time they assimilate through the generations but there are still little "insert country here" where English is sketchy and flags fly everywhere. It's not just Mexicans.

early 1900's in Boston, locals were freaking out about Irish and Italian numbers rapid rise.

Demographics eventually changed. Nation survived, probably improved.

Probably will repeat a coupla more times in the next 100 years.

Recent benefits to me: great Vietnamese/Thai/Cambodian restaurants, and eager workers happy to get a foothold on USA soil so their kids can be what they believe might become the greatest blessing of all...native born American citizens.
