So yesterday, I clicked on a you tube link somewhere on here that lead to a video from the White House Correspondence Dinner where the black comedian joked with the President and called him the N-word. The debate was whether it was appropriate and as it turns out it is OK for a black to call another black that word.
So I sat here thinking about political correctness. So we got the actual “N-word” which is taboo to say. It is so taboo, I can’t even type it here. If you say it you will be drawn and quartered on all the social media and you’ll end up with threats against you. So we came up with the phrase “the N-word” to replace the actual “N-word.” My thoughts were… If we keep saying the phrase “the N-word” to replace the actual “N-word” how long will it be before the phrase, “the-N-word” becomes taboo?
Logically if A = B, with B being the condition it is unsayable, and C = A, shouldn’t C = B also?
I wonder how long it is before we just start grunting at each other for fear of using any word. Political correctness is starting to apply to a whole lot of phrases and words. Read last week that bringing up golf is now considered "micro-aggression."
