LBJ showed up at a shelter with no electricity, shined a flashlight on his face and said he was their President and there to give them whatever help he could.

Even GWB did it standing with the rescue workers in the ruins of the World Trade Center.

Frankly the President could do nothing but travel to where there is disaster or tragedy if you want.

I land on go to the State, not necessarily "ground zero" and make your political promises etc.... at a minimum sit in the WH and talk to the nation. We've seen neither in my mind. I'm not big on having the traveling zoo complicate recovery efforts and to be honest I'm not big in to the I feel your pain or nice job brownie politics.
