But did you get Trump's side of things? Any reasons as to why he would just " stiff " a bunch of contractors? Was it across the board or just " some contractors " ? Again, just asking Q's....I just don't see him randomly screwing people out of $$ owed them.

I'm certainly not taking sides, but I think a few things bear pointing out.

Trump companies have apparently filed bankruptcy 6 times. Five of those filings were New Jersey casino projects. At first glance one might question Trump's ability to run a business enterprise. But, a closer glance shows that the overwhelming majority of Atlantic City casinos around the same time either filed bankruptcy or were was sold for pennies on the dollar. In all fairness there were many gaming/entertainment companies that didn't fare so well either during this period either.

There are two main causes for their demise. Like many casino operations in the '80's Trump's casinos were financed with junk bonds requiring much higher than normal interest payments. The junk bond market dried up overnight with the fall of Drexel Burnham Lambert in 1989 which caused illiquidity in that investment sector. Four of Trump's companies' bankruptcy filings occurred less than three years after Drexel's fall. Had there been liquidity in the junk bond market, things may well have turned out differently.

The second cause had to do with the market sector itself. The early '90's were brutal for the gaming/entertainment sector. Though as a whole that sector itself was strong it was saturated market. Many casinos failed, not just the ones owned by Trump.

The real reason Trump is hated for his companies filing bankruptcy has more to do with his attitude than anything else. Instead of being contrite about it all, Trump was smug. That makes him an easy target to hate.

I just like the fact that he's not a career politician. And that makes all of those that are, squirm. Giving me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

Is he the perfect guy for the job? No, but like a lot of people I wouldn't rather see him try, and mix things up at the same time, than let another Clinton in there.

He is and always has been a con man and a joke. This has nothing to do with politics to me. I've always though that of him from before and especially during the apprentice. I'm just floored that folks that though that of him before now accept him as a legitimate candidate because they hate Hillary, the dems, or other politicians. Trump proves anything is possible and it is possible to find a lower life form than a politician. What looks and feels good in the moment is going to be pretty embarrassing to a lot of folks in the context of time.

I bet if Trump gets in Iran backs off... If Hillary gets in the harassment will continue and they'll prolly start sinking ships and shooting down planes... If it doesn't start happening in the next few months... 😟
