More than 30% of Americans still believe that Obama is a Kenyan (born there), and a muslim ...

delta1 wrote:

I'd be willing to bet that an equal percentage believe that Donald Trump initiated those thoughts ...
.
Interestingly enough, the whole "Kenyan" thing began with Obamas paternal grandmother ... speaking to the press, she was saying how proud she was that her grandson could become President of the US, she went on to say that she could clearly remember his birth, right there in that village and how bad she felt when he was so quickly whisked away and rushed to Hawaii where his other grandparents lived ... oops
.
As for the muslim issue .... there is no doubt that his mother married Lolo Soetoro after which she and "Barry" moved to Indonesia where Barry attended a muslim school where he was admitted when his mother declared to the school that they were muslims ... while there, he attended muslim services and studied Muslimism (?) at school ...
.
Those are the facts ... small surprise that there are many who believe him to be Kenyan and a muslim ...
.
I will add that the Certificate of Live Birth that he produced after as much foot-dragging as we've seen Trump do over his tax returns) is legally the same sort of document my wife had when she first applied for a passport ... the State Department declined to issue her a passport until she produced a Certified Birth Certificate ... inasmuch as she had to secure that document in person from the state in which she was born, she had to make a special trip and go to considerable trouble to obtain the document (mostly waiting time) ...
.
I have no personal knowledge about the circumstances of his birth and only know what his granny had to say ... I DO find it more than a bit curious, however, that he could be accepted as president with a document that the state department would not accept to issue MrsS a passport ...

Funny that you think those are "facts"...
Politifactsuggests that you are wrong.
1) the full tape of the grandmother interview states clearly that he was born in Hawaii
2) he went to a public school in Indonesia... not some sort of school which would require you be Muslim to attend.

... as for the birth certificate... if the state actually says that the certificate is the original birth certificate.... perhaps the certificate you had from a different state was not the original. You know every state does it a little different...

Factcheck.org has an article titled "Donald, you're fired".....here is an excerpt.

The proof is not just the official birth certificate issued by the state of Hawaii, and made public by the Obama campaign in 2008. As we wrote when we published detailed photographs of that document in our "Born in the U.S.A." article, that document constitutes legal proof of citizenship sufficient to meet all U.S. Department of State requirements for issuance of a passport.

I never really investigated the birther thing but your wife could produce this article and tell those mofoes, what's good for the prez is good for her.

I am baffled constantly by what people establish in their minds as fact... there is apparently a very low bar

Trump wasn't the only one pushing birtherism, just the most famous and persistent. A SoCal dentist, Orly Taitz, spent a fortune carrying that flag, even producing a Certificate of Birth from the Republic of Kenya that was determined to be a fraud. The Republic didn't exist when Obama was born.

Obama attended two Catholic elementary schools in Indonesia, for a total of 3 1/2 yrs, and was listed as Muslim, because that was his step-father's religion. And he was reputed to be anything but devout...

It was Obama's father's stepmother, Sarah Obama, who was incorrectly reported to have said he was born in Kenya. She said in numerous later interviews that she never said that, and that he/Obama was born in Hawaii.

Well a number of polls show that many people still believe in Santa Claus, and that he is, most certainly, white.

There was no protests on inauguration day.
Locally for me, Boston had no organized march.
No congressmen or women openly announced they were going to boycott.
School officials did not allow students the day off.

Other than that, yeah.
