The irony wasn't lost on me, hence the sarcasm smiley and my follow up sentence stating the fact that he will be called a racist no matter what he does.

It seems now if a person doesn't agree with what someone does or says the easiest way to attempt to silence and discredit the other person is to call them a "racist." I have not seen anything Trump has done that I would call racist or fascist. If anything he has brought to the surface the hatred that is in so many liberals hearts. Not yours frankj I didn't say all liberals 😉 haha

Vic- Not directed at you at all, I see what you're saying. My tangent was that it seems when people now disagree they instantly start with trying to debase the other person instead of debate them on their opinion.

I miss debate class, the entire purpose of it was largely lost on me at the time, but I read articles daily where its existence was never even realized by millions.

So... we all know I normally dismiss a lot of Victor's posts as partisan babble, but I have to admit a bit of self reflection on this one.

If Obama had done it, it would have bothered me. Trump did it, and yep... doesn't bother me.

I think I know why, though, and it isn't about race. It's more about reaching across the aisle. Obama would have been helping the folks who largely voted for him, so while maybe just as altruistic... the appearance wouldn't be the same. It would look more "quid pro quo".

Trump is helping the folks who largely did not vote for him. So, in my mind, it is different.

Thanks macs... I actually appreciate you thinking about that. And I don't disagree that the implication is a little different. But the singling out of black colleges would have been met with howls of indignation here if Obama had done it. Stuff about if there were a historic white college it would be racist etc etc...

Obama claimed to put "extra border guards" with guns and that's OK.
