Ran across this old Jespear thread and it got me thinking about the years I worked in the record retail industry. Worked a total of 11 years, mostly part-time but did put in a couple or 3 years at full or near full-time status. Because of the many hours listening to music but more importantly, getting to choose what I wanted to hear, think these albums are probably right up there in my Top 5:

Jackson Browne - Running on Empty
The Cars - debut album
Elvis Costello - My Aim is True
Elvis Costello - This Years Model
Joe Jackson - Look Sharp!
Graham Parker - Squeezing Out Sparks
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
Steely Dan - Aja

I played some of these albums every day or night that I worked. Five days a week.

And I loved it!

I agree to both. I didn't get into Bob Dylan or appreciated him until the past half dozen years. Ran into a documentary about him on Netflix or PBS. If I remember correctly it was called No Direction Home. After I saw that I thought to myself, I should give Dylan a further listening to. Then I found it on the Torrents to download into my media library.

A bunch of the songs he wrote where performed by some other big names in the industry.

"All Along the Watchtower." Jimi Hendrix has a great rendition of this song (actually I think this is the best version).
"Like a Rolling Stone." Jimi Hendrix has a great rendition of this song.
"Mr. Tambourine Man" preformed by The Byrds.
"Blowin' in the Wind." A protest song popularized by various artists, including Peter, Paul and Mary and Stevie Wonder.
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" a song made popular by Guns N' Roses. It was originally written and recorded by Dylan.
