Please be alarmed. The terrorists don't want that.

Are you actually arguing that our leaders should want us to be alarmed? vigilant maybe. aware maybe.... alarmed really? You want them to be alarmed by a greater police presence rather than to feel safer because of it?

Not really. he is trying to get everybody alarmed and play off their fear... it's his leadership style.... be afraid...

And since the ban was just for 90 days (or 120) while we figure out what the hell is going on and fix the vetting process (that doesn't appear to be broken so no one is really working on fixing it) and it's been about that long already it's no longer needed because we fixed it right?

I heard FDRs speech was taken out of context. He really said you should be really scared. Really really scared. Alarmed even. Run screaming like girls and push others out of the way. This is awful we are all going to die.

Not being alarmed does not equate to being docile or not being vigilant. An increased police presence should do the opposite of alarming. It should help you feel safer. I have never heard an effective leader in a time of crisis recommend being alarmed rather than remain calm... that does not mean take no action... but alarmed?. It would be especially weird if they said we are increasing the police presence so you should be alarmed by that. You will see more police and police with guns. Do not be alarmed or panic. Not being alarmed does not mean ignoring. Alarmed is a fairly charged extreme word. To not be alarmed is not the extreme on the opposite side.

The brits know how to do this. From the battle of britain to the IRA crap to this. They are a stoic group. Trump is a moron for even making this an issue. Just wish them well and offer them any assistance we can. Don't be a complete tool and pick a fight with them. That mayor seems to be doing a good job trying to quell panic. I dread the day we rely on trump to remain calm and rational.

I'm sorry you misinterpret the word "alarm" as being "charged" and "extreme"... you must have a damn near panic attack in the mornings, you know, when your "alarm" goes off...

well if trump means they should all set their alarm clocks then its ok.

I am surprised you are so ok with him being critical of what the mayor of London is saying and doing during a crisis especially when his words are clearly being taken out of context by Trump to suit his needs.

To me it is pretty indefensible and beneath the dignity of the office. Normally we support our allies in these instances. But the bar has been lowered. I'm not aware of anyone but Trump taking issue anywhere in the world. Maybe he's just that smart.... or.....

But we can agree to disagree. You think the people of london should be alarmed by an increased police presence and their Mayor is wrong. Cool.

Getting ones Johnson sucked in the oval office by an employee was thought to be beneath the dignity of the office as well... Billy proved us wrong and now trump is doing the same....

I won't defend trump but i won't crucify him either, as you and the press are doing... to instruct people not to be alarmed - either by terrorists or by the extra police protection now needed just to avoid being killed by terrorists - seems retarded to me... to be alarmed is to "feel frightened, disturbed, or in danger"... 3 terrorists attacks in 3 weeks... what would it take to make you feel like you were "in danger"?

Sorry, Joel... in context, I have to agree with teedub. At least in my mind, when I read what was said I took it to mean do not be alarmed by the increased police presence.

*sigh*

Ol' Trumpelstiltskin needs to nix his twitter account, stfu, and be president.

For the President to nitpick what the mayor was saying, assign his own meaning to it, and play it with his base during this particular time is not worthy of the office....
