I happen to agree with much of Trump's immigration policy (not the wall). I think his choice of words here was very poor but it's Trump we're talking about. People should be far more outraged by his actions than his words...like his healthcare failure...removal of internet-privacy...repeal of net-neutrality...his tax bill...surveillance bill...etc.

This actually doesn't bother me a whole lot. A little... but compared to the rest of his presidency.... meh.

What bothers me most is his poor logic. The Orange moron is complaining because so many people who come to the USA do so from countries which are worse off than the usa.... and whining that not enough people come to the USA from countries which (by a huge number of quality of life metrics) have a better standard of living than the usa.

That shows a complete lack of critical thinking.

I mean... don't get me wrong, if a president who we actually had expectations of reasonableness from, like Bush or Obama, said that...I'd be much more bothered.

It's a sign of how much Trump has lowered our own expectations for the office of president. It's like we're watching a fat kid do a pull up.... if he doesn't manage to do it, we aren't too disappointed. And we get super excited when he successfully does one.... something which would be a normal expectation for a normal person.

If you live in Norway, a country with a better standard of living than the US (across a number of metrics), you're not likely to want to move to the US. If you live in Chitmenistan, or Indiana, where the standard of living is lower than the US (across a number of metrics) you're very likely to want to move to the US.

If trump wants more immigrants than Norway, then he needs to work to make the country more appealing to live in than Norway, not just whine.

While victor is getting excited about fat schoolboys, we should be talking about WHY the Presidents comments were bad even considering his history of lacking a filter when speaking.

This wasn't a closed door private meeting.
Using such strong language leaves zero room for compromise, which is what a negotiation is supposed to evolve around.

A lot of charitable hours have been spent trying to help the poor people of Haiti (for instance). Hearing the President dismiss it with one breath is more than disheartening, it's the thing that revolutions are based on.

I don't usually care about hurt feelings or being politically correct (I know. Gasp!).
This is about respect.

I think we can all agree that Indiana is a lost cause, but there are 195 countries in the world and we only seem to focus on a small number of those. And I'm not just talking about where they come from but who we're taking. I'm not looking for a massive overhaul but some tweaks are needed in my opinion.
