Good job on the humidor! Sliding doors is a good choice. it solves a lot of fit problems.


About the Spanish cedar -

If you don't have a lot of wood working tools you probably need to buy sized and surfaced wood. Buying 5/4 or 4/4 wood from the yard means re-sawing (splitting its thickness) jointing two sides and planning to thickness. So band saw, jointer and planner.

Buying it sized and surfaced (S4S) means other than a saw you just need a router or dado set to put in the rabbits. And do put in rabbits so you can install it as ships lap. The cedar will have a lot of expansion across its width and you don't want things to buckle.

Of course, you really don't have to have Spanish cedar to make a humidor. Tuppadors or anything that is mostly air tight works just fine. Some folks use a non-working wine refrigerator. And you can always just add some cedar as flooring or shelving to help with the fine aroma. The cedar really does the job of acting as a humidity "spring", holding moisture and releasing it when needed. But then so do beads.
