McConnell: ‘2017 Was the Best Year for Conservatives in the 30 Years that I’ve Been Here’

During an interview broadcast on Monday’s edition of the Fox News Channel’s “Daily Briefing,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said 2017 was the best year for conservatives in the 30 years that he’s been in Washington, and the Trump administration has been a “very solid, conservative, right of center, pro-business administration.”

McConnell said, “2017 was the best year for conservatives in the 30 years that I’ve been here. The best year. On all fronts. And a lot of people are shocked. Because we didn’t know what we were getting with Donald Trump. He was doing fundraisers for Chuck Schumer three or four years ago. But this has turned out to be a very solid, conservative, right of center, pro-business administration. And we’re seeing the results of it.”

Apple Announces $350 Billion Investment in US Economy, 20,000 New Jobs

Apple announced in a press release on Wednesday that the company will be investing $350 billion into the U.S. economy over the next five years.
According to a press release, Apple plans to create 20,000 new jobs in the United States over the next five years thanks to a $350 billion capital investment.

Combining new investments and Apple’s current pace of spending with domestic suppliers and manufacturers — an estimated $55 billion for 2018 — Apple’s direct contribution to the US economy will be more than $350 billion over the next five years, not including Apple’s ongoing tax payments, the tax revenues generated from employees’ wages and the sale of Apple products.

Apple specifically laid out in the press release their plans to create 20,000 new jobs through hiring at their current campuses as well as the creation of new ones.

“Apple expects to invest over $30 billion in capital expenditures in the US over the next five years and create over 20,000 new jobs through hiring at existing campuses and opening a new one. Apple already employs 84,000 people in all 50 states,” the press release reads.

Joe Manchin: Chuck Schumer Didn’t Have the ‘Stomach’ to Continue Shutdown

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) argued on NBC’s Meet the Press that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) did not have the “stomach” to continue the “Schumer Shutdown.”
“I would have been hollering. I don’t think Chuck had the stomach to go on,” Manchin said on Sunday.

Sen. Manchin continued, “He plays a part differently and I don’t understand where, I understand the dynamics of the Democratic caucus is much different. The Democratic caucus, that’s a big tent. I just said, I come from West Virginia. I’m representing my state. I’m not a Washington Democrat, I’m a West Virginia Democrat.”

Survey: NFL Ties MSNBC for 6th Most Polarizing Brand in America

The NFL’s apparent campaign to use anthem protests to turn themselves into the most polarizing brand in America, has nearly succeeded.
The proof of that success came this week in a Morning Consult survey of most polarizing brands in America in 2018. While the NFL did not seize the top spot in this infamous list, it ranked a whole lot higher than any sports league ever should.

Of the 29 brands on the list, the NFL ranked as the 6th least polarizing. The brands rated more polarizing than the NFL, in order, were: Trump Hotels, CNN. Fox News, NBC News, and the New York Times. The NFL tied with MSNBC for the 6th most polarizing brand.

Do not adjust your screens, you read that right: People find the NFL just as polarizing as Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews.

The five brands ranked just behind, meaning people find them less polarizing than the NFL, were: ABC News, CBS News, the Washington Post, Fox Business, and BET. The next least polarizing sports brand on the list was the NBA, which came in tied at 19 with Comedy Central. Followed by NASCAR, which came in tied for last place at 29, with NBC Universal.

Politics is a weird thing. The day that seems like a huge win can really be the beginning of a hard crash.

It might be like trading for Hershel Walker.

I'm pretty sure that if you consider low ratings of any organization you have zero affiliation with or market competition with as "winning" on your part, you're not a winner.

That's like considering yourself a "winner" because the special ed kids keep running into light poles. You aren't doing anything successful.... you're just as much a loser (in your case more, because you don't even have a Football league or music award show, but seem to have some vested interest in another one failing)....

Trey Gowdy: FISA Memo Will Be ‘Embarrassing to Adam Schiff’

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said a memo that the House Intelligence Committee voted on Monday to make public would be “embarrassing” to the Intel Committee’s ranking Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

Gowdy prefaced his remarks by saying he supported special counsel Robert Mueller “100 percent” in his effort to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and noted how

Schiff had gone out of his way to prevent the public from finding out details.

“[L]ook, my Democratic colleagues didn’t want us to find this information,” Gowdy explained. “They did everything they could to keep us from finding this information.”

“I think it will be embarrassing to Adam Schiff once people realize the extent to which he went to keep them from learning any of this,” he continued. “That would be the embarrassment … I mean, going to court to help Fusion GPS so we can’t find out they paid for the dossier, and that they were working for the DNC. That’s a pretty big step to go to court to try to keep the American people from learning something. So, if it were up to Adam Schiff, you wouldn’t know about Hillary Clinton’s email. You wouldn’t know about the server. You wouldn’t know about the dossier. I do find it ironic that he has his own memo right now because if it were up to him, we wouldn’t know any of it.”

Scarborough on Memo: Ryan, Nunes Want to Release a ‘Twisted, Distorted Lie’ to Feed the Paranoid, Maniacal Desires of Trump

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough castigated House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) for Monday night’s vote to release a memo to the public that reportedly alleges wrongdoing in U.S. intelligence agencies.

Scarborough called the memo part of a “cynical game” targetting law enforcement for a “political purge.”

“[M]any who did read Nunes’ memo say that it falsely summarize the reality and it’s filled with all these falsehoods and these misleading conclusions all in an attempt to slur law enforcement officers that Donald Trump — I don’t know how else I should say this,” Scarborough said. “He’s targeted them for a political purge. So, this is a cynical game that Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy and Devin Nunes and anybody that empowers Devin Nunes is playing.”

The “Morning Joe” co-host equated the release of the memo to a “twisted, distorted lie” and said it serves President Donald Trump.

“So Ryan and Nunes want to release a half-truth that turns out to be a whole lie — a twisted, distorted lie,” he added. “Since Ryan thinks the public will learn the full facts, he and Nunes can skate by on their lie. They can smear the men and women of the FBI. They can spear the professionals at the Justice Department who said this would be really reckless to put out there. They can even smear distinguished FISA judges, and they can smear the entire intelligence community by extension all to take part in a sleazy political purge that we’ve been seeing unfolding before our eyes to feed the paranoid and maniacal desires of Donald Trump.”
