Indians and palefaces both have it wrong:

Cut the sides off the blanket and sew them on ends....day is longer but it goes much faster.

Cut a hole out of center and sew on end......day is longer but you have a siesta.

Get blanket wet, put it on a rack and stretch it. You have extra benefit of being taller too.

I'm not necessarily a fan of daylight savings time... but that statement is pretty dumb.
It doesn't really take into account fixed hours vs variable daylight.

To use the poorly implemented metaphor above (which I'm sure was not actually said by an indian)... you only can use 1/3 of the blanket at any time. That usable area tends to shift. At some points that usable area shifts to the bottom of the blanket, and by moving a foot off the top and sewing it to the bottom, you can use the entire 1/3.

It's a dumb saying.
It's an outdated concept (for the most part)....

but most importantly... the irony of such a dumb statement being likely falsly attributed to an "old indian" to make it sound pithy, and put on a meme from some place like "free your mind and think" is just so very sweet.

The meme is dumb, it's supposed to dumb, like the concept of getting more daylight by changing the hands/digits on a clock. It does feature a nice old photo of a Native American.

Is this plagiarized from that famous book: "How to make sure you have no friends as you reach the midpoint of your life"

The funniest part about all this....

I was doing a few quick searches of the meme to try to figure out where it came from. I was largely unsuccessful, but found it posted in at least two native American news sites.

So likely at least one old Indian has forwarded it on to their friends, essentially making the meme true after it's creation.

My memory is hazy, but it seems there was a time when Victor debated (and sometimes argued) from a position of some reason.....what happened? Seems he's become the guy my Grandpa used to talk about ....'that guy'....who'd 'argue with ya, iffn ya said the sun would rise in the east tomorrow'...

Victor....it's a joke...lighten up, Francis

It's okay, man. My resource development teacher, Mr. Saunders, told me I was destined for a job with my name on my shirt. He was right... I was in the Navy for 20 years, and with the sheriff's dept for 10. I'm just not sure he realized I'd be making well over what he made, while never going into debt for the education he had.

Keep on keepin' on, Vic.
