House GOP passed a bill to provide funding for a wall...now it's up to the Senate ... if the Senate passes it, no government shutdown...Trump gets a big win...stay tuned...

The current spending resolution expires at midnight. Unless, Congress sends him a bill that he will sign it’s their fault. It’s that pesky thing called the Constitution.

While we are on the subject, spending bills MUST originate in the House of Representatives. It then is sent to the Senate who will likely make changes. Those changes are then negotiated by House and Senate conference committees. Once both sides agree and pass the conference report it is sent to the President for his signature.

We should all be happy that Trump has reminded Congress of the separation of powers doctrine the Constitution provides. I mean if the President signs anything Congress chooses to pass, then why the need for separation of power?

Then we here that the Republicans control Congress. This is silly and false. Another safeguard in place is the current super requirement of a super majority in the Senate. It requires bi-partisanship absent one party having an overwhelming majority.

Since the Republicans and Democrats have wasted resources and opportunities trying to one-up and gain control they haven’t passed a budget in years. We have been governed by continuing resolutions.

So here we are with a Congressional caused government shutdown.

What Trump should have done was starting a couple months back he should have used the bully pulpit to remind Congress that he would not sign a continuing resolution absent wall funding. Then every week or do keep publicly reminding them. That way it would be mistakable whose fault it was.

At the end of the day though he would still get blamed because 98.2% of his detractors don’t have a clue how the process works.
