Just saw a meme that made me literally laugh out loud....out of respect for Victor, I won't bother you all with it.

Who am I kidding? Respect Victor??....Seriously lol

Anyway, it was a picture of a young girl..maybe about 10 years old, facing the camera; "My little brother ate a bunch of Scrable tiles. Now his sh1t makes more sense than AOC."

Don't make the mistake of discounting her. She is very representative of millennials. Her ideas are far to radical for me, but I do see value in part of what she says. I think it is possible that she will become our first female president one day.

Given that most people who laugh at that meme haven't got the patience or literacy to bother reading the actual green new deal proposal.... What would they expect?

Have you read the deal? It's full of crazy assumptions e.g.,

"make wars for oil obsolete – allowing us to cut our bloated, dangerous military budget in half. [1]"

We have not fought any wars for oil, including Iraq, we let them keep their oil and the US is now a net exporter of oil.

Another quote:

"The transition to 100% clean energy will foster democratic control of our energy system, rather than maximizing profits for energy corporations, banks and hedge funds. It will promote clean energy as a human right and a common good. It will include community, worker and public ownership, as well as small businesses and non-profits."

My highlights, they intend to federalize the energy sector.

You don't need patience, nor literacy, nor any knowledge of green anything to find the meme funny. AOC had an impressive reputation long before the green stuff...

And Spey....I think I heard someone else warn not to dismiss her out of hand

The New Green Deal (NGD)including confiscation of energy industry fund to be used for implementing the NGD. They do use a benign word to describe the confiscation.

"The Green New Deal will redirect research money from fossil fuels and other dead-end industries toward research in wind, solar, and geothermal as well as wave and tidal power. We will invest in research in sustainable, nontoxic materials, closed-loop cycles that eliminate waste and pollution, as well as organic agriculture, permaculture, and sustainable forestry."

The NGD will chop our military 50%.

"The Green New Deal includes a major cut in federal spending on the military (including the Pentagon budget as well as expenditures on war, nuclear weapons and other military-related areas), which would free up from roughly $500 billion per year."

It also includes a $20/ton carbon tax, carbon exchanges and a tax on all financial transactions.

Gene.... You proved my point.

You never read the bill.

I just opened it up and did the following searches:
Oil - no results
Wars - no results
Democratic control- no results.

You didn't read the bill and your quotes aren't from it.

Why would you spread such false information?

Jesus gene... Read the f-king bill before you claim her writing makes no sense.

Did you search the FAQ document?

Its odd to me how much attention this freshman rep gets. My guess is she will not have a long career in congress. Everyone needs a foil/villain. I'd hit it though.

I didn't bother with the FAQ document.
Everyone jumped on that as if it meant something. It's a FAQ... It's not what's written in the actual resolution.

It honestly looks like whoever wrote the FAQ was not reading the draft of the resolution.... It was taken down pretty quickly.

The resolution is short. There's literally no reason to read a summary of it, especially when the summary seems to not be accurate.

Getting upset over words in a non-binding FAQ of a resolution which aren't in the resolution itself is like getting upset that someone is driving unsafely in a car commercial.

... then you won't mind providing the page numbers?
I've literally got the text of the resolution in front of me.
