That's the beauty of America. Freedom of Speech. I might not like what he has to say, but I've defended his right to say it. Given his statements, dribbling is all he needs to do. Every time he opens his mouth about anything he shoot his own foot.

Yet another reason why Jordan will always be the GOAT in the NBA.

how many peeps who said "F*** the NFL...I aint never watching them spoiled bazzturds again" a couple of years ago now tune in every Sunday, Monday and Thursday?

and after the season starts and your fave team is in playoff contention, you'll be back watching the NBA, especially when your team plays the Lakers...

I'm OK with Lebron saying whatever he said on both occasions...you speak up, you should expect someone to question your words and motives...it's the American way...freedom of speech has more than legal limits...there are social limits/consequences too...

I've prolly posted dozens of thoughts that I wished I'd re-read and then re-read again...

NBA star athletes are not alone in their hypocrisy, but as a league the players are unlike those in other leagues as they are far more involved in direction and are basically partners in the endeavor, not simply employees. I'm not sure why they aren't granted the same leeway as the ruling class.

I have also posted in past threads asking why the US hasn't stepped up in support of Hong Kong. But I realize there's a lot more to all of this than simplistic good guy/bad guy roles. There's trade, and jobs, and other stuff.

To his partial credit, LeBron did follow up with saying that if spoken a week later Morey's words could still be admirable while doing less damage to their league...not sure I understand this but it might have been what LeBron meant by the "timing" and what Morey seemed to not understand.

somehow, inside, I still feel that I don't care that much about what either Morey or James said.

The games in China were almost cancelled after the teams had already arrived... Pretty sure that's where the "it could've waited a week" came from... He didn't like that the comments were made while he was there...

We may not understand Chinese culture, or many other cultures for that matter, as well as they understand ours though.

We have very close friends who are from Chile. They have done very well here. When we discuss this perceived "American ignorance" of the rest of the world, they tell me we shouldn't worry about it because we are The Big Dog.
But that was a few years ago, I should ask them again.
