I do. How does she require it?

Really? Not in this household.

If I did that with my dad my vote would be for Trump. Is it wrong if he tries to tell me to vote for him?

It doesn't appear that was done in Michigan either. And Nevada appears to have only mailed absentee ballots to "active registered voters", for the Primary.

To pretend that either state is mailing ballots to every eligible voter is simply dishonest.

So you see absolutely nothing wrong with what opel described? That's a pretty cut and dry example of fraud.

I suppose you could say she is illegally purchasing their votes with "love"... but that ****'s got no value.

GOP used to support voting by mail...until they stopped supporting voting by mail...despite no significant evidence of voter fraud, after multiple efforts to find it, that's the "reason" they give...

even tho they have admitted that they can't win elections if people are allowed to vote

they have become the party that wants to restrict and suppress voting

ya, denying felons and illegal aliens the right to vote is voter suppression.... 😟

The main difference in this and some church telling its membership how to vote is that Nana at least can be taxed.

I've heard plenty of people talk about how "their household votes". The implication is that everyone in their house is voting the same. They've stated that their wives vote exactly how they do. Now I have no idea how that's ensured.... or even if it's true ("sure honey, I definitely voted for the child raping alabama senator")... but that just appears to be a simplification of the same idea.

I'm not afraid of the mail in vote like some are.
But neither am I in favor of states going to extra lengths to mail out ballots and/or applications.

Absentee ballots have existed forever.
Remind people to capitalize on this feature if they are unsure about going to the polls on election day.
Let the people pursue it themselves.

If people are too stupid to figure it out, they shouldn't be voting to begin with.

If they want to sell their ballot for a pack of smokes and a fifth of MD, then have at it.
But to make it easier for them to do so is ridiculous and reeks of partisan posturing.

nope...that is called following the law...

Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Utah and Colorado conduct all elections by mail...no evidence of fraud, or illegal voting

33 other states allow early voting by mail...

after Trump's Commission on Voter Fraud completed its investigation at the start of his term, it concluded there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud...and the Commission was led by Kris Kobach, the Kansas AG who became a GOP spokesman for the claim that the US elections were rife with fraud...they were highly paid hitmen looking for proof that their suspicions about fraudulent elections was right...nope...nada...zilch

Remember when the GOP did their autopsy and figured out the path to future relevance? Why not put together a platform that would appeal to more Americans?

The current strategy to maintain dominance of a minority while alienating a large majority of citizens and trying to squeeze them out of the process is unsustainable. It led to the ascension of an unfit POTUS, a series of blatant policy decisions pandering to the donor class and a track record of losing elections as many average independents, and some conservative citizens start to wake up...

Can we circle back to the point that the president is essentially extorting two states to not do something which many other states are already doing?

Literally... "If you do this, I'm going to find a way to keep you from getting federal emergency funds".

.... Even funnier in the context of his ukraine impeachment

Does the Federal government provide states with funds to run elections? I just did a quick search and came up blank.

If it did, do you think twitler would know this? Given his attention span, do you think he's got any idea in his head other than the current emergency funds being distributed to states?

So they willingly and knowingly turn over their ballot to someone else to do with as they please. This is OK to you? Unbelievable.

I guess it would be okay for folks to show up at the polling place just before close and cast votes for all the no shows because the no shows didn't care enough to do it themselves.

victor809 wrote:

Wrong. The church is just lobbing for who they feel best supports their position - just like any lobbyist or special interest group. It's up to the individual to make the choice and place the vote for on who they support. The church is not collecting the church members' ballots and placing the vote for them.

I refuse to believe that you don't have an issue with blatant voter fraud.

anecdotal? of course... but I'm sure this happens more than we think...

I don't agree with it but the Federal government withholding federal money to states that don't get back in line is not a new thing.

One that comes to mind is where Federal Highway funds were held hostage until the states adopted 55 mph laws.

"The impression of a "national speed limit" stems from the Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act, which President Richard M. Nixon signed on January 2, 1974. In the midst of an energy crisis touched off by conflict in the Middle East and a subsequent oil embargo imposed by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries that forced Americans into long lines at gas stations, the Act was part of a nationwide effort to reduce oil consumption. The law prohibited the Federal Highway Administration from approving highway projects in any State having a maximum speed limit over 55 mph. The States could retain higher speed limits if they wished, but at the cost of losing Federal-aid highway funding. As a result, all States complied with the legislation.

The Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act of 1987 allowed the States to increase speeds to 65 mph on rural Interstate routes without penalty. The National Highway System Designation Act of 1995 extended the authority to all roads. The States now have full control of speed limits.
