Took me 5 years to finally get a tag through our lottery draw and we ( a few great friends were with me) sealed the deal with an 8 foot 9 inch 165 lb gator.
It's illegal to bait gators in SC and you can't have a rifle or shotgun in the boat, so you basically spot and stalk. We managed to snag hook the gator with a couple heavy rods with 65lb braid and treble hooks, fought with him for almost an hour before we got him right next to the boat to finally dispatch him! For 1st time gator hunting with no guide..... I'm extremely happy with our success!

Yeah we got about 30lbs of various cuts , gator bites, cubed, sausage, and I got the legs whole for a buddy of mine (think huge frog legs)
The white meat is the best bc I don't particularly like the dark meat..... For me it just has an after taste I'm not fond of.
