"Of the people, by the people, and for the people" Silly Lincolnian nonsense talk. Did you know Lincoln borrowed that from a 1850 speech by Theodore Parker, a New England preacher? Lincoln wasn't religious at all, but he did like to grab flowery prose from preachers sermons and speech's. The original line went like this: "a democracy, that is, a government of all the people, by all the people, for all the people"
It's hard to fathom anything of the sort existed in Lincolns time and it's certainly a lie now. The people are not steering the ship of State, all they do is elect the same old Democrats and Republicans who rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.
