Happy birthday Al!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

I spent the lunch hour and early afternoon at my daughter's house, where she and my son and their families and SIL's mother, prepared a birthday meal. The centerpiece was a big pot of chili, my all time fave from a recipe left by my buddy, Charlie (RIP - he was my SIL's father)...he refused to let me have the recipe, even as he was terminally ill from cancer...but he trusted my daughter with it...thankfully.

the rest of the day and early evening was spent in our pool and jacuzzi...thermometer topped at 108F...smoked Fuente Mag44's with son and SIL to cap the day


good birthday celebration, but I told everyone that I am done acknowledging my date of birth...been too many...

Thank you for the well wishes, my brothers from other mothers...at my age (gasp, 71!!!) hell raising on a birthday are well past their use by date...spent the day with my wife, lounging around the house...brushed the algae off the walls of the pool and hot tub...scrubbed our three trash bins (green compostables, recyclables and regular trash)...Jersey Mike's for lunch...lounged and read some from "Hidden Prey", John Sandford...

Daughter and her family came over in the early evening for a little celebration: various slices of sweets, including two cheesecakes, German chocolate brownie and custard filled chocolate eclairs...nearly passed out blowing out the candles...

had a couple fingers of Macallen 12 year single malt... then into the jacuzzi with a 1926 Padron Anniversary maduro...

prolly not gonna get any better as far as birthday celebrations from here on out...
