The latest victim of the dumb, brutish, and miseducated progressive wokeness mob.
I'm no fan of the Bully Boy's history, but I would not advocate tearing down anyone's monument, after all some people paid for an artist to sculpt it and make it into bronze and it obviously meant something to them at the time it was erected. Instead of learning something about its message and making it a focal point of historical debate, the troglodytes of the left have been on a campaign to destroy every piece of history they can find, and obviously, they have found politicians of equally low morality and intelligence to placate them.

Theodore Roosevelt statue removed from front of NYC's Museum of Natural History

Workers operated a crane to cart away a statue of the nation's 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt, in the wee hours of the morning on Jan. 20, 2022

An iconic 1939 bronze statue of Theodore Roosevelt has stood prominently, boldly, in front of the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan for over 80 years, greeting schoolchildren, families, history buffs, and museum goers of all ages and backgrounds, as well as all who passed by it — but now that monument is gone.

The main piece of the Teddy Roosevelt monument was taken away by crane in the wee hours of early Thursday morning, just after midnight on Wednesday.

The statue is taking a hike out of New York City — and is now headed for North Dakota.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” - George Orwell 1984

This one even i (a proud lefty Progtard by Rays standards...) disagree with...

I have often said that these items (mostly related to the confederacy) that go against the current expectation of not offending our fellow country men and women or that seem to celebrate those that could be considered enemies of the USA (again, confederate status placed in places of honor around the country) should not be destroyed but placed in suitable locations such as museums and historical parks such as Gettysburg, Manassas and the like.

This one though? i don't really get as it WAS at a museum... i do think it is important to add another quote from the same article posted though...

One of the ex-president’s descendants, Theodore Roosevelt V, cheered the statue's removal plan last year, saying it was "fitting that the statue is being relocated to a place where its composition can be re-contextualized to facilitate difficult, complex and inclusive discussions,"

Melt that statue and recast it as a statue of George Floyd.

Gettysburg would make a nice location for an Amazon warehouse.

Yes...poor Teddy, just the sight of the "Rough Rider" sitting high on horseback with a black man and a Native American, both shirtless standing low beneath him BUTTHURT some peeps. The woke said that it "communicated a racial hierarchy that the Museum and members of the public have long found disturbing." and "Roosevelt's legacy — especially his views on race and support for the eugenics movement — has also come under wider scrutiny in recent years." as an article in NPR said."
Yes, Teddy was problematic in more ways than one ("problematic" is a word that lefty's use for people that don't fit in perfectly with their world), The Progressive Teddy used to be a hero of the left, among the top presidential greats if you took a poll. But then they discovered some real history beyond what their school books told them and under the direction of a commission created by Commie Mayor DeBlasio, his sainthood would be tarnished forever. The native New Yorker is banished to Idaho from the museum that his own father was a founder. Now the woke can have their safe space without that racist statue searing their eyes. It's always the same story, whether it's a Confederate monument or whatever. They are not the least bit interested in why it was put there, they are only concerned that the bad man hurt their feelings. :-({|=
Make the bad man go away! WHAAAAA!

I think you won't understand this for the very reasons I am going to give for why I feel some pity for you along with the love I have for 98.2% of humans. And "rachmones" because it's not your fault being a product of those who could have made but failed to make historic genealogical connections an important part of your familial past.

You have zero knowledge of your connection to any ethnic group that has struggled to survive. Trust me young blood, it would have changed the paradigm that informs your world view.

Native Americans aren't "butthurt" by stuff like Mt Rushmore and statues to Teddy as you want to believe.
Jews aren't "butthurt" by your casual use of Nazi inflicted horrors as a comparison to your struggles in America.
Blacks aren't "butthurt" by your explaining away the inconvenient truths of the Founders owning their ancestors while declaring freedom from being taxed unfairly (waaah).

and so on, and so on...

I wish you had been taught what it feels like well enough to have it imbedded in your cells, as opposed to being told about it by Loo Rockfish.
Then you'd have a chance to understand why you are greeted with head shaking pity rather than the head spinning you desire.

Oh Frank...we've discussed this. Tardbots can't be reasoned with. Why bother? There was a sign in a little pizza joint I worked at in high school that said, "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig." It was good advice that I have never forgotten. I've mostly given up on this forum because of this. Used to be able to have lively discussion. Those days are gone.

Ray, statue removal due to demands of the people is exactly what you advocate for, anarchy within our country. In general you are very hypocritical. The BLM is anarchy, ANTIFA is anarchy, the George Floyd protests are anarchy. Isn't it rather duplicitous to advocate anarchy, but when you dislike what happened you venomously criticize that particular anarchistic event.

Whether any of the above acts are good or bad is irrelevant if you believe in anarchy. The act itself being anarchistic is a win for any anarchist.

What do the following have in common? (1) international struggles for control of the globe's resources, (2) gang warfare in Prohibition-era Chicago, (3) miners versus claim jumpers in the California gold rush, (4) animal territoriality, and (5) male elephant seals who fight to sequester "harems" of females. Answer: They are all anarchic situations. (Hirshleifer p. 26)

Frank, why the hell are you rambling on about Native Americans, Jews, and Blacks?
I was writing about the WOKE, their ridiculousness into the depths of the bizarre transcends anything about race and ethnicity that you seem to be fixated on.
I don't need your pity or your preaching about your superior feelings imbedded in your cells.
The WOKE are all wrapped up in their feelings too, which is a substitute for thinking, seeking the truth, and acquiring knowledge and understanding beyond the crap they think they know.
The WOKE are like spoiled children, as I said before, they only want to make the bad man that hurt their feelings go away and could care less about the truth, or their own offenses against the persons and property of others that satisfy their feelings. They claim the moral high road just because they say so. If you challenge them in any way you are just a "deplorable". The WOKE are just another sign of the intellectual decay of Western civilization.

It goes to show you that like all artistic representations, it's ultimately up to the observer to try to understand its meaning, especially as time goes by.
