I'll add this to my recently acquired knowledge. Wood good, plastic bad.

.30 caliber WWII vintage rifle = good (it has a wood stock)

.223 caliber AR-15 with composite stock = bad because it looks mean and stuff.

A lever in .357 is first on my buy list, followed by a 1/2 lug, 6” GP 100.

Henry does make a fine rifle. Got my old man one for Christmas 3 year ago. He deer hunts with it. That said personally I really like ruger rifles. They’re not as fancy but I likes em. Not sure that they offer a lever but have a 7.mm bolt. Just stupid accurate. Will cut holes if it’s benched

I have a Ruger M77 MK I 7mm Rem. Mag with a 3-9 Leupold Scope. Haven't used it since I stopped hunting deer and elk but always was accurate when I reloaded my own.

Also a 60 year old Marlin 336 lever in 30-30 with a 4X scope with good wood. Good brush gun.

That is very nice……….but a tad pricey.
I have my eye on the Big Boy X.
Maybe next summer…………….maybe.
A side loading gate is a must imo. Tube fed is great for the first load, then side gate to keep it topped off.
Best of both worlds.

@deadeye. I run hornady loads in the ruger. That’s what’s working. Others well the accuracy wasn’t there. Really big fan of their ammo in general

I’m also one of those hippies that just likes the look of nice wood over composite. I’ll pay a little more for nice wood grain. If it’s a cheap beater I don’t care but preference goes to wood for myself

It's been many years since I sold off my reloading bench and all the equipment. Can't even remember what combination of powder and bullet I settled on after trying many variations but I had that baby dialed in at 200 yards.

Hornady LeverRevolution has my 336 spot on at 200 yds.

Hornady superPerformance SST for my 270 Win for 300 yds.

I have a Hornady bias.

I concur hockey. They make good ammo across the board.

I never got into loading rifle rounds. Order got difficult to obtain. I still have some red dot I just use for shotgun shells. But honestly a birdshot round can be had new for the price of reloading. I don’t plink much with rifles just get them true and leave them alone. That said I’d still love to have all the stuff to do it

Here is my theory, the add on gunbroker said damaged box, no damage to rifle… the box was not it that bad of shape in my imo. Anyway I’m thinking they sent it knowing the gun was broke, my FFL will send it back, they’ll file a claim with fedex and boom, they get double the money. Anyway that’s just my theory

Took delivery of my AR pistol today.

Fired 8 clips through it today. Sweet is the only word I can use to describe it.

Brought this beautiful piece home today, looked at it three times once last week, yesterday and went back today I just had to give it a home. Someone else almost actually bought it while I was standing there trying to decide if I wanted to drop that kinda change, I would have been bummed but it would saved me money lol.
