All in the Family is the hands down #1.

This one would have never made it past the censors if it was proposed nowadays. It challenged the boundaries of so many social and political topics of the time. Serious topics but they made fun of both sides with each character having their (almost) over the top stereotypical role. Meathead vs Archie, Gloria vs Archie, Edith vs Archie, Jefferson vs Archie, Maude vs Archie...

There is no way the Archie Bunker character would have made it past the network censors today. People would take him seriously and the show would be banned. I don't think the modern audience would see that he was a satire that embodied all of the prejudices wrapped up into one single character for comedy. This sitcom spawned another few such as The Jefferson's which is probably the best spinoff from the All in the Family, family tree of sitcoms. The Jeffersons were again similar to the Bunkers and took on some societal norms in a sitcom.

Miami Vice - loved that show! The fashion and the great music made for “Must Watch” TV. Even taped episodes on my Sony Betamax if I knew I was going to work late.
