Google bought FitBit and you're going to need a Google account so good by Fitbit about 2025.

Google's slow destruction of Fitbit is everything wrong with modern tech

Poor Fitbit just can’t catch a break. Since being acquired by Google’s parent company Alphabet, the fitness tracker brand has suffered quite a few backend mishaps, difficult headlines, and big device launches that have received a lukewarm reception.

It comes as no surprise, really: anyone who’s been paying attention knows that Google was always going to begin assimilating Fitbit into its ecosystem. Fitbit accounts will remain active until ‘early 2025’, after which you’ll need a Google account to access your fitness data. Once that happens, expect Fitbit smartwatches to effectively disappear, leaving glorified fitness trackers of various sizes and the fully ‘smart’ Pixel Watch series.

I have one. When it dies, it dies... I'll get something better.

I'd stay away from anything Google as much as possible.

Nobody has a private life anymore....

I have no idea how these young playboys get away with multiple chicks and not getting caught...

Let alone married people trying to cheat on their spouses...

Not only can they track your phone, they can track your car very easily, plus there are cameras everywhere nowadays, apple tags, SIRI AND ALEXA SPYING IN REALTIME...on and on and on....

Ohhhhh to have lived in the 1970's and 80's ....when fake passports and identities we're so so easily acquired very cheap....

Not today, only govt. Spies and federal law enforcement can fake passports easily and cheaply....
Billionaires and millionaires can still do it to but it costs bookoo dollars....poor people cannot even do it anymore...

Technology has really screwed with anoyminity....

Only reason I have one is I get $200/year back from insurance premiums as long as I get enough steps.

I had a smartwatch for 3 days. I'm not willing to remove and charge my watch every day. The fitbit goes about a week and a half. If my options are smart watch to get the rebate fuggit I'm going back to my timex watch.
